DUTIES: - Perform daily cleaning of lab and facilities (lab, tables, floors, sinks, locker room areas) as needed. - Assists Gross Anatomy Lab supervisor to receive, identify and store cadavers in accordance with NYS regulations and protocols, requiring frequent after normal working hours scheduling. - Assist Gross Anatomy Lab Supervisor to apply identification labeling/tags to cadavers, in accordance within prescribed legal requirements and departmental guidelines. - Assists Gross Anatomy Lab Supervisor to clean and organize dissection laboratories and teaching-related materials. Initiate and follow up on work orders for maintenance and repair of dissection laboratories, store room, cold room and dissection laboratory office. - Initiate and follow up on requests for assistance from physical plant for action on heating/cooling/ventilation, electrical, or plumbing problems as they occur. - Have knowledge of the handling of toxic and dangerous embalming chemicals used in Gross Anatomy laboratory. Maintain inventory of same. - Consult with Gross Anatomy Lab Supervisor, senior department administrator, course directors and with Anatomical Gifts program director as needed to fulfill objectives. - Assist in al aspects of Gross anatomy teaching programs, including exam preparation, administration, and cleanup. - Assists Gross Anatomy Lab Supervisor to prepare the Gross Anatomy lab for monthly after hours Clinical Residency Training Workshops for clinical departments from SUNY-DMC and other area hospitals. - Assists Gross Anatomy Lab Supervisor to cremate used cadavers, process and package labeled ashes, and ship cremated ashes to family or place in storage for school burial in a safe, neat, timely and accurate manner.
