The University of Minnesota Medical School is looking for a talented Graphic/Multimedia Designer to join its Communications and Marketing team. The right candidate is experience in digital and print design. The person in this role will serve as the day-to-day “go to” for all graphic design needs.
Duties and Responsibilities include but are not necessarily limited to:
Creative Development & Content Creation (95%):
Produce and oversee all design projects from concept to finish.
Create original, specialized promotional designs and design layouts for a variety of Medical School and M Physicians digital and print materials; These include, but are not limited to:
Digital: GIFs, interactive banner ads, infographics, social media graphics, photo and video editing (as needed), etc.
Print: Billboards, bus tails, one-sheets, posters, programs, brochures, catelogues, presentations, direct mailings, advertisements, etc.
Lead the design strategy for achieving communications goals in consultation with the Chief Marketing and Communications Officer.
Consult with staff in the Medical School and M Physicians on their designs to ensure a professional look that adheres to University brand policy and Medical School brand standards.
Create templates, interactive PDFs, and tools that can be easily used by the college’s departments and centers to increase the professional look of their print and electronic promotional materials.
Coordinate with University-wide offices to ensure consistency within the University.
Other Duties (5%):
Maintain digital asset library.
Oversee student workers and any potential freelance workers.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Bachelor’s degree (preferably in graphic design, communications, marketing, or related field) and four years of related experience.
Proficient in Adobe Creative Cloud, including InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, PremierePro, etc.
Ability to work independently and successfully manage multiple changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Ensure all deadlines and expectations are met in a timely manner.
Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish and maintain relationships at all organizational levels and to work collaboratively.
Demonstrable graphic design skills with a strong portfolio.
Deep understanding of typography, layout, color theory, and copy replacement.
Ability to offer creative solutions for issues, challenges, or complications related to design (concepts, direction, and implementation).
Experience developing materials for an academic institution.
Familiarity with AP Style.
Experience with Google Docs.
Knowledge of basic HTML/CSS
Experience working with print vendors
