Eastern Washington Uniaversity is seeking an Assistant Director-Alumni Programs. This position will contribute to a fast-paced, dynamic office that is responsible for engaging the more than 100,000 alumni of Eastern Washington University (EWU). The Office of Alumni Relations (Office) is part of the University's Advancement Division and is the critical connection between EWU and its alumni. It also oversees the Eastern Washington University Alumni Association (EWUAA). We connect with, grow pride in, and engage these eagle alumni, most of whom reside right here in Washington state. We do this through a series of ongoing communications, events and programs.
Reporting to the Director of Alumni Relations, this position is primarily responsible for independently managing programs and activities that support alumni engagement. This includes things like: •Leading the volunteer board of EWU's Young Professional's Network (YPN) in the running of this signature engagement program. •Managing the annual Alumni Awards process which celebrates five alumni award winners nominated by their peers, and culminates in a special annual event. •Coordinating a forthcoming program to foster a connection between students and alumni for the purpose of career development support. •Seeking and managing affinity relationships and added-value perks available to EWU alumni.
The Assistant Director of Alumni Programs will also work alongside Advancement Services to grow and maintain the alumni database. The person in this position will be expected to attend most alumni events to help connect with alumni, gather their information and stories, and make meaningful connections as a brand ambassador for EWU. This position will lead alumni surveys and will devise ways to gather ongoing input from alumni.
This position will also serve as administrative support for the Office and the EWUAA. This position will support the Director of Alumni Relations in leading the EWUAA including communications with the EWUAA board and committees.
This position is responsible for ensuring exceptional customer service to a wide range of target audiences that are diverse and have unique needs. It requires familiarity with and respect for ethics and human relations, as well as donor and development privacy regulations.
This position must also have the skills to train, mentor and supervise these qualities amongst student employees. It also requires that this position performs and represents the Office and EWU in a professional manner through tasks performed with a high level of accuracy, attention to detail, meeting required deadlines, and treating all who are encountered with the highest level of respect.
This position will be responsible for alumni initiatives that require skills related to relational database input, output and manipulation. It is required that this position is proficient in writing, editing and the MS Office Suite.
This position is responsible for supporting a variety of events and therefore is regularly required to work a varied work schedule including evenings and weekends. Some events take place outside the Spokane/Cheney core, so occasional travel will be part of this position.
