Summary of Duties: In partnership with the CEO, the Associate Vice President (AVP) maximizes opportunities for organizational effectiveness related to operations and support in the WSU Foundation; works directly with staff and across departments to collect information, analyzes data and identify strategies for optimal efficiency and effectiveness
The AVP will provide ad-hoc analysis and decision support for the CEO on a wide range of subjects and priorities.
Initiate and manage short to mid-range projects that will enable strategic implementation of elements related to fundraising and campaign readiness; work to solve problems, mediate disputes, and deal with issues before they reach the CEO
Act on the authority of the CEO to oversee projects that typically require cross-unit collaboration and resource allocation; provide project management and planning for strategic initiatives.
Serve as the representative of the CEO in university and college settings when appropriate; disseminate information and communicate ideas on behalf of the CEO; respond on behalf of the CEO when issues arise;
Identify and implement strategies related to investment and long-term growth in the organization.
Support the CEO in building a best practice Board of Directors that aligns with a billion dollar endowment.
Work closely with the AVP for Strategic Communications to develop internal and external messaging with key volunteers, donors, and alumni; provide input for the planning of the CEO's internal and external communications, both written and oral
Manage the identification and execution of contracts with vendors as it relates to strategic projects in support of philanthropic objectives and campaign readiness
Required Qualifications: Positions require a Bachelors degree in relevant field and three (3) years experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified within the project specialty. A Masters degree in a related field may be substituted for up to one (1) year of the required experience. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis.
