1) Reporting to the Managing Director for the Office of Language Assessment (OLA), the Assessment & Pedagogy Specialist coordinates the Language Pedagogy Innovation Initiative (LPII), collaborating with all lecturers involved in curricular projects or assessment of test-takers (aka, students).
2) Supports the Office of Language Assessment in its testing of studentsâ™ language proficiency in foreign languages across the University and in its various research practices.
3) Creates workshops for language instructors as components of the LPII, to provide expertise and best practices to language instructors in the design and development of tests and related pedagogical practices.
4) Manages logistics for holding workshops and events; reserves space, manages/tracks attendance, food for breaks and meals, copying materials, etc.
5) Recruits language instructors to participate in the LPII; this includes developing marketing material and/or planning and holding events.
6) Tracks and manages the progress of language instructor participants; tracks applications, registration, assessment, and curriculum proposals; tracks feedback and drafts of all proposals, projects, deadlines, submissions, and payments where applicable; in consultation with the OLA director, provides oral and written feedback to participants.
7) Writes a summary of the LPII for the CLCâ™s annual report.
8) Produces print materials and reports about the LPII as needed.
9) Attends meetings and conferences to present research and other aspects of the LPII.
10) Maintains accurate records of test results and provides those results to appropriate parties.
11) Schedules and facilitates testing, including preparation of materials, communication with test-takers, room scheduling, and recording and distribution of results.
12) Teaches additional courses or workshops for language instructors beyond the LPII in a given academic year, contingent upon demand and relevancy.
13) Participates in related pedagogical initiatives, including test development across languages, assessment training workshops, course development, or new projects as they present themselves.

1) Masterâ™s degree, preferably in Applied Linguistics, Second Language Assessment, Second Language Acquisition, foreign language teaching, instructional technology, or a related field.Â
2) PhD degree.
1) 2-5 years experience in language testing and/or teaching practices, including test design and validation, and test administration.
2)Teaching experience, preferably in second or foreign language, at the post-secondary level, including experience with course design and implementation.
3) Familiarity and/or experience working with multimedia and/or data management.
4) Experience managing a grant or other comparable program.
5) Experience with and knowledge of statistical analysis as it relates to language testing strongly preferred.
Technical Knowledge or Skills
1) ACTFL Oral Proficiency Interview Assessment training highly desirable.
2) Advanced proficiency in at least one foreign language.
3) Ability to track and manage participant progress efficiently and with timeliness.
4) Ability to use Excel or other appropriate software to manage LPII logistics with proficiency.
