The College at Brockport
The College at Brockport, State University of New York is establishing a pool of applicants to fill POTENTIAL part-time, temporary teaching positions as needed in the department of Art. IMPORTANT: Please note that positions are not currently available, but can become available at any point throughout the year, due to various circumstances.
The Department seeks interest from design and art educators who can teach in the following areas:
Graphic Design 1 and Typography 1Drawing 12D Design (Teach gestalt principles primarily via physical tools and processes, but also blended with Adobe software. For Fine Arts concentrations, Graphic Design concentration, and Art minors.) 3D Design (Teach gestalt principles primarily via physical tools and processes, but also blended with 3D modeling software. For Fine Arts concentrations, Graphic Design concentration, and Art minors.)
Potential future course areas:
Advertising DesignDigital Illustration3D Illustration, Modeling, and FabricationMotion Graphics (Adobe After Effects)
Prepare and distribute syllabi and class materials according to college standards. Assess and evaluate student learning and provide formative feedback throughout the duration of the course. Provide reasonable availability to students for consultation and assistance with respect to assigned course(s). Evaluate student performance. Submit midterm and final grades on the Banner system. Display and archive course material and student work as requested by program chair and/or the Dean of Academic Affairs.
Master's Degree in Fine Art, Graphic Design, Visual Communication, or a related field from an accredited US Department of Education or an internationally recognized institution. Minimum of 3 years of professional communication design and art direction experience. Mastery of technology tools that meet the demands of the current professional design practice. Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign. Willingness to teach basic design software literacy (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) and introduce graphic design studio skills.
MFA in Graphic Design/ Communication Design or related terminal degree. Prior teaching experience in Communication Design at the undergraduate level. Experience in advertising, report design, book design, editorial design, and/or web design. Strong understanding of visual/ verbal messaging concepts. Strong understanding of formal typography and typographic foundations. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Salary and Benefits $2,500 per 3 credit hour course. Health insurance is available to part-time faculty who teach six or more credits, contact hours, or credit equivalents per semester.
