Representing the Education Policy Innovation Collaborative (EPIC) in the College of Education at Michigan State University, this position will provide grant budget and operations administration for the unit. Specific job duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: managing multiple University financial accounts with both general fund and external (i.e., grant) resources; assisting in the preparation of pre-award budgets and budget forecasts; administering post-award project responsibilities including milestones, interim, and final reports; coordinating conference/meeting planning for activities funding by/or in part by EPIC; managing day-to-day operational needs of the office; other duties as assigned to carry out the mission of EPIC, the College of Education, and Michigan State University.
Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in Business administration, Finance, or a research-related field; three to five years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in research administration including the area of pre or post award processes, or related field such as regulatory administration, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. This job may require Essentials of Research Administration at MSU Certificate series or equivalent.
Master's Degree in Business, Finance, Communications, or a related field
Strong project management skills
Experience with grant financial management in higher education
Exceptional oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Ability to multi-task and follow through on responsibilities to meet deadlines
Ability to work successfully with faculty, academic scholars, staff, students, and the public
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Outlook, Access, Project, Publisher, and PowerPoint
Expert in Microsoft Excel
Demonstrates a work orientation that includes problem solving, seeing the bigger picture, forecasting potential trouble spots, taking initiative, the ability to work as part of a team and independently, and a dedication to continuous self-improvement
