Facilitate the efficient operation of the Department of Event Services, through supporting the operations, maintenance and safety goals of the Event Services Department and Director. The Event Operations Manager will achieve this through the execution of event operations, building maintenance, and labor supervision. •Manage the daily operations of the event services department through oversight and coordination of daily events and operations staff. •Provide hands-on leadership and manage operations functions including staffing, event coordination, and financial tracking for the full-time and part-time operations staff responsible for the setup, support and tear down of events. •Cross-coordinate with event managers, coordinators, and Director of Event Services on all operations costs estimates. •Serve as liaison with Business Operations Manager for account reconciliation. •Plan and implement a routine maintenance calendar that is responsible for all university event spaces and event services inventory items. •Develop and publish safety training guidelines, and insure the safe operation of all departmental staff as it pertains to providing a safe operating environment. •Plan and implement an inventory tracking program for all event services assets and resources and reconcile with the finance and accounting department. •Occasional travel attending training, trade shows, meetings and sales conferences. •The above statements describe the job's essential responsibilities and requirements. Candidate must be familiar with the operation of an event center, audio and video production equipment, stage lighting, HVAC systems, digital lighting control, athletic events, staging set up, aerial rigging and event production.
Must be able to create and maintain spreadsheet data in MS Excel and use MS Word. Prefer candidate with room-scheduling software experience, specifically EMS and CAD experience.
Experience working in a fast-paced environment and the ability to respond to high-pressure situations. Ability to thrive in an environment of hard work.
Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community
2 years' progressive management/supervisory experience in arena, theater, convention center or hospitality operations required; 5 years preferred. Equivalent education and 1 year experience may be substituted.
