The primary purpose of this position is to lead the Project Management unit in providing professional oversight for all projects and successful execution of the University's Capital Plan and capital construction projects contained in the plan, as well as, Informal campus construction and renovations from design to completion. Within Facilities Management, this position ensures there is communication between department as well as a common goal of customer service for projects of all types. Direct the project management team in the process of designing and constructing new buildings, renovations and infrastructure projects in accordance with state construction guidelines, statues and federal rules/regulation governing the area of work. Manage the process for projects which include scope development, plan review, specification review, inspection and close-out. Serve as the Capital Projects Coordinator for UNC Charlotte under the governance of the State Building Commission.
Minimum Experience / Education:
1.Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Architecture, or related field (project management, finance/business). 2.More than 10 years of professional experience in design and construction.

1.Demonstrate expert level knowledge of construction concepts, project management and project financial management. 2.Apply in-depth knowledge and experience with designer selection, scope and budget development and delivering projects on time within budget. 3.Direct the management of program and staff resources, providing support and guidance to staff. 4.Develop strategies to improve quality of service, performance, and budgetary/operational efficiency. 5.Develop solutions for complex and unique work issues. 6.Apply and interpret local, state and federal rules/regulations governing the area of work. 7.Review design submissions for correctness and/or completeness. 8.Ability to work/interact effectively with persons from different backgrounds and cultures. 9.Use knowledge and experience in budgeting, financial management, estimating, scheduling, planning, and project management as required. 10.Perform progress inspections for compliance with construction documents and applicable codes as required. 11.Enforce University and departmental policies, regulations and performance dependability. 12.Possess strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to communicate problems, solutions, and processes effectively to customers, senior administration, and field technicians in various and constantly changing conditions. Strong skills in negotiation, conflict management, and the ability to create consensus, get buy-in, and solve problems quickly and effectively. 13.Possess thorough knowledge of and ability to interpret professional architectural theory, techniques, practices and procedures, organizational structure, and/or extraneous factors or implications; skilled in applying this knowledge. 14.Possess high-level computer skills. Knowledge and skill with Google Applications, Microsoft Word and Excel, and willingness to learn new programs. 15.Selected candidate must have the mental and physical capabilities to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.
