The Assistant Director of Constituent Engagement for the Peabody Institute is part of the Office of External Relations that builds the pipeline of donors by engaging alumni, parents, donors, and friends in the life of Peabody. The Assistant Director will be involved in all aspects of constituent engagement programs, primarily focused on alumni engagement, annual giving, and donor relations.
Areas of Responsibility
Design, implement, and manage the solicitation and stewardship efforts for the Friedberg Society (donors with current-year giving at or above $1,000) to include: building a donor solicitation calendar, creating appeals with central annual giving team, assigning and implementing all stewardship touches, and assisting with qualification and cultivation of Friedberg donors.
Create new engagement and solicitation strategies for young alumni and recent graduates by focusing on building strong relationships and fostering even greater affinity to Peabody.
Oversee data requirements and needs for the Constituent Engagement team and work with the Development Coordinator to obtain lists from central development and/or constituent database.
Develop and implement the Institute-wide Founder’s Day event—a day of service, volunteerism, and giving for current students, faculty, staff, and alumni.
Establish new and engaging digital content and strategies for solicitation and stewardship.
Assist with the planning and execution of the Society of Peabody Alumni meetings (3-4 times a year) and related meetings and events.
Liaise with Marketing and Communications to provide donor, alumni, and event-related stories for publications, marketing materials, and Peabody website.
Track and analyze trends in alumni data from constituent database and other sources to strategically determine and develop decisions on events, geographic alumni engagement activities, and affinity programming.
Support the Director of Constituent Engagement in working with the executive council for the Society of Peabody Alumni.
Minimum qualifications (mandatory)
Bachelor’s degree required. Two years of related experience in alumni relations, events, volunteer management, fundraising or related field required, preferably in an institution of higher education.
Five years related experience, preferably including fundraising and/or alumni relations related activities.

Requires excellent verbal and written communication skills, a proactive work style, attention to detail, entrepreneurial and creative nature and the ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously
A high degree of professionalism, discretion, diplomacy, and confidentiality

Sense of humor, extraordinary tact, and intellectual curiosity
Requires a willingness to work nights and weekends several times per year
Strong computer skills preferred
A proficiency in Microsoft Office is required
Travel may be required
Technical qualifications or specialized certifications: Expertise in MS Office Suite skills – especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Experience with prospect management databases.
