Job Summary: The IT Technical Specialist III performs advanced professional IT activities for a specialized, complex assignment or functional area requiring application of an advanced professional knowledge of IT principles, practices, and procedures. Requires evaluation, originality or ingenuity. May supervise and/or direct the work of project teams or other lower level staff.
Additional Department Summary: This IT Technical Specialist III position will perform a broad scope of professional IT activities requiring knowledge and application of IT principles, practices and procedures, often requiring evaluation, originality or ingenuity. This individual will be involved with the support and administration of system applications, process review and recommendation, development and implementation of technical solutions. The position will serve as primary support for the Facilities CMMS and may play a role in providing backup support for other supported applications.
Required Minimum Qualifications: Master's degree ; OR Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of IT experience; OR Associate’s degree and four (4) years of IT experience; OR High School Diploma or GED and six (6) years of IT experience. Knowledge of advanced programming, networking, system, multimedia, instructional technology skills or project management methods and applications. May require intermediate or advanced level training or certification.
Skills and Knowledge: Must be an effective communicator, both verbally and in writing, with users of varying degrees of technical ability and understanding. Must possess teamwork skills necessary to collaborate and produce IT solutions. The ideal candidate will be proficient in SQL query, reporting tools (Argos and/or BIRT preferred), with experience in managing small to mid-size projects. Familiarity with programming languages (C#, .NET) is preferred.
