Description IT Unified Communications Network Services provides planning and implementation activities to deliver Wide Area Network (WAN), Local Area Network (LAN), Wireless (LAN) for the entire UC Davis Health enterprise. In response to institutional requirements, the department provides technological leadership and support for the cost-effective use of computers, software and networking to include installation, training and problem resolution.

Qualifications REQUIRED -Experience implementing Data Center network/Core network/LAN services protocols including dynamic routing protocols (OSPF, etc), gateway protocols (BGP, EIGRP, etc), and backbone protocols such as OTV. -Experience with the standards, protocols, installation and maintenance procedures of Ethernet and Ethernet hardware, and Data Center network/Core network/LAN services technologies. -Advanced experience with family of Cisco Nexus Data Center switches. -Advance knowledge and experience with network theory and technology. -Highly developed project management skills encompassing planning, purchasing, scheduling, installation, tracking, test and acceptance and problem resolution in a multi-vendor environment. -Advanced technical writing skills to document systems and procedures and develop work plans.
PREFERRED -A current CCNA certification.

Responsibilities The Data Center Engineer (Communications & Network Technical Analyst 4)will provide advance level technical expertise and technical leadership in the area of Data Center networking, Core Networking and Local Area Network services. The Data Center Engineer is responsible for Data Center projects and new/upgrade Core Networking and LAN services projects in new/existing environments. The Data Center Engineer will oversee design, installation and support functions, including coordination of projects and workflow, decision making authority on large system design and high-level problem-solving pertaining to the Data Center networks, core networks and LAN services.
Additional responsibilities include assisting with general Unified Communications departmental projects, support requirements, on-call assignments, projects and design/engineering efforts that impact the Enterprise WAN/LAN/Wireless.
