The primary role of the Analyst for Strategic Projects is to facilitate the development and implementation of improvement initiatives across all areas of Harborview Medical Center.This role manages a portfolio of improvement initiatives, facilitates multidisciplinary groups in the development of project plans based on the gap between current state and ideal state, and drives groups in the implementation of project plans using strategies based on improvement science. This role leads projects focused on standardizing best practices, removing waste from processes, improving workflow efficiency, optimizing utilization of resources and increasing patient satisfaction. This role acts as a resource for management, administration and faculty to facilitate improvements in efficiency and quality: serves as a technical expert consultant regarding process improvement strategies to improve quality of patient care and staff & patient experience in a cost effective manner. This role performs research of best practices and analyzes data collected in observations and via patient care IT systems to share with multidisciplinary teams as they launch and perpetuate improvement initiatives. This role deploys project management tactics in order to keep projects on time and on target. Improvement initiatives may be tied to QI, PI, Patient Experience, process improvement and/or collaborative efforts with UW Medicine partners and are always associated with the aim of achieving strategic goals of Harborview and UW Medicine. Leadership:* Lead stakeholders in identifying improvement implementation teams, and guide the coordination and planning of improvement initiatives targeted at operational efficiency, cost reduction and/or quality improvement* Lead improvement implementation teams to focus on improvement through the identification of current and ideal states, development of work plans which will remove process barriers, remove waste from workflow and innovate solutions that will shorten the gap between current and ideal state.* Drive improvement implementation teams to identify next steps/action items, accomplish their action items and move toward completion of work plans.* Report status of projects to identified reporting committees, including stakeholders and project owners in the reporting team* Support organizational strategic goals through leadership of improvement initiatives* Delegate project tasks to appropriate individuals/groups with strategic consideration of appropriate levels of responsibility and authority* Drive team performance to fulfill objectives as outlined in the improvement plans for each project.* Synthesize and display data and metrics in user friendly format. Facilitate information sharing and problem resolution* Develop policies and procedures to support projects and improvement efforts* Achieve desired results by establishing effective work priorities, methods, and project flow for self and/or others* Consistently demonstrate professionalism, tact, responsiveness, and excellent judgment in day-to-day activities* Model service excellence in daily practiceData Collection and Analysis:* Facilitate the involvement of appropriate data analytic teams for projects, including Performance Measurement, Quality Improvement and other analysts across Harborview* Incorporate QI, Performance Management and Patient Experience data in outcomes measures for projects to display the impact of interventions on global outcomes* Incorporate appropriate local measures as process measure for projects, to display the immediate impact of interventions on local processes* Identify and analyze PI data, quality indicators, benchmarks and best practices to ensure the collection of meaningful data that demonstrate processes and outcomes of interventions and programs* Present data to management, physicians, and staff in a manner that facilitates the planning, development and evaluation of projects and programs.
