Rutgers University School of Social Work (RUSSW) seeks dynamic faculty members to join our productive faculty in continued expansion of the School's innovative programs, centers and institutes. We seek highly motivated and productive scholars, and entrepreneurial and innovative thinkers, who have a strong commitment to research, social justice, and social work education. Successful candidates will be interested in inter- and transdisciplinary research that advances the reputation of the School.
We are interested in scholars who can advance research agendas in the following areas:
>Clinical Intervention Research, >Child Welfare Services, >Mental Health Services, >Health and/or Interprofessional Health, >Gambling and Gaming Addictions, and >Management and Administration in Social Work.
We have particular interest in scholars in the areas of: >Substance Use Disorders and >Digital Innovation and Technology in Social Work
Successful candidates should hold a Ph.D. in the area of Social Work or a related discipline. They should have strong methodological training, outstanding research achievements or potential for publication in top journals, and excellent teaching and communication skills. The new faculty member is expected to teach, to be actively involved in research and grant work, and supervise Ph.D. students. Candidates should demonstrate achievement consistent with their rank. All candidates are expected to maintain an extramurally-funded research agenda while participating in the education of RUSSW students. Specific to Substance Use Disorders. Ideal candidates will have: advanced training in the screening, diagnosis and treatment of substance use disorders and the genetic, neurophysiological and other etiological factors predisposing individuals to substance dependence; a comprehensive view of addictive disorders and an understanding of the relationship of substance use disorders to other addictive behaviors; and direct practice with substance use disorders and/or experience in intervention research or implementation science (not required, but preferred).
Specific to Digital Innovation and Technology in Social Work. Ideal candidates will have: a research agenda focused on the intersection of technology and social work practice; have an agenda that is enhanced by interprofessional partnerships with communication and information researchers. Such an agenda might take many forms, including but not limited to development of novel digital resources for social work settings, integrating technology into clinical social work interventions, transforming approaches for assessment and intervention, understanding the impacts of digital technologies on human development and social relationships, using technologies to enhance community and public health interventions, etc.; and be oriented to bringing in external resources to support their research agenda. Successful candidates hired at or above the rank of associate professor may be considered for a leadership role in the newly formed Institute for Digital Innovation.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Ph.D. in the area of Social Work or a related discipline.
