Santander London Branch is seeking an Operational Risk Manager to join their team in London. The purpose of the role is to protect San SA capital and reduce volatility of profits by defining, directing and embedding effective operational risk management policies and practices across all levels in SLB and its third parties.
You will monitor against limits and thresholds established by the SLB ExCo and report the SLB operational risk profile and ensure action is taken to maintain the profile within the San SA and SLB operational risk tolerance. You will deliver risk mitigating activities, including corporate insurance, business continuity and crisis management, for the SLB and also promote the appropriate risk culture across SLB.
You will implement the designed strategy and annual plan to ensure that effective management of OR within the SLB.
You will act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on operational risk issues and operational risk programmes for SLB GORC and 1st Line Risk Champions. You will perform an independent oversight role for the SLB functions to ensure that operational risk issues are adequately reflected and escalated on the various management reports.

As an Operational Risk Manager your main responsibilities will be
Executing tasks to meet team's objectives and keep up to date the model, policies and procedures owned by NFR.
Executing the definition and embedding of Operational Risk (OR) Culture and Framework through ensuring the execution of the full operational risk management tool set and develop a methodology to monitor degree of embeddedness.
Providing input on the operational risk programmes developed by the Operational Risk department to ensure that these programmes cater and/or address complexities specific for a function within SLB.
Establishing a communication channel to conduit of information, knowledge share and/or requests to and from SLB GORC and Corporate SCIB Non-Financial Risk.
Becoming the first point of contact within the Operational Risk Department for issue escalation.
Identifying and escalating business' exposure to major risks through the production and analysis of reports or internal/external information gathered.
Acting as an expert OR consultant in order to enhance the OR capability of the business.
Minimum skills and experience required
Risk management, banking or audit professional membership is desirable.
Experience of operational risk management and control methodologies, as well as their successful application.
Overall theoretical understanding of operational risk concepts and techniques, and ability to translate knowledge and experience into recommendations to add value to the business.
Experience of carrying out risk and control based assessments to evaluate the design and operational effectiveness of controls.
Used to working with, and reporting to, senior management; good communication and presentation skills. Strong influencing skills and ability to provide constructive challenge and advice.
