The Senior Director of HR Shared Services provides overall leadership and management for the human resources shared services team and functions, including strategic planning, policy development and implementation, as well as the determination and evaluation of shared services goals. A significant portion of time will be dedicated to the oversight of the daily operations of the HR shared services team and serving as the initial escalation point for resolving human resources inquiries or issues from within Business Operations and campus partners.
As the primary backup to the Associate Dean of Human Resources, this position is expected to be familiar with and maintain knowledge of policies affecting all employee types, including conducting complex employee and management relations issues. In addition, the Senior Director will be a critical player in maintaining a culture of service with both our internal and campus partners. As such, this position is expected to co-facilitate a College-wide continuous process committee, as well as represent the College on various campus-wide initiatives.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree and three years of experience in the area of assignment, of which at least one is supervisory or in a lead-worker capacity; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Candidates must exhibit significant relevant experience working effectively and diplomatically with a wide range of people including university administrators, faculty, staff, and students; possess superior communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills; and have the capacity to inspire confidence. This position requires considerable knowledge of rules, regulations, and policies relating to UNC-Chapel Hill Human Resources, State of North Carolina and Federal guidelines. The ideal candidate will have experience in human resources management in institutions of higher education, including policy interpretation and application, project management and the ability to lead a team.
A relevant Baccalaureate degree and HR certification (PHR or SPHR) are highly preferred with a minimum 4 years of directly related HR program and personnel management experience in a shared services environment; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
