Corporate Treasury is tasked with finding the best ways for BMO to deploy its financial resources within the parameters of regulatory guidelines as well as the Enterprise's own risk appetite. The Treasury function plays a key role in the management of the bank's liquidity, funding, capital, and allocation of financial resources to align with the bank's overall strategy and to ensure the bank is resilient in its ability to carry out its activities. Treasury teams are strategically focused, have a collaborative nature and possess strong problem solving skills.
Liquidity and Funding Management within Corporate Treasury and working closely with the Treasurer and senior management, is accountable for the measurement, analysis, and oversight of the Bank's regulatory and internal liquidity and funding risks that arise from business activities performed by Lines of Businesses (LOBs) globally. The individual will partner with LOBs to develop a solid understanding of business strategies and develop in-depth product, market and regulatory knowledge across a large number of retail and trading products. This knowledge will help guide businesses and senior management on liquidity and funding risk mitigation, product development, and optimization.
Develop subject matter expertise on liquidity and funding matters, providing market expertise and advice to Finance, LOBs and other internal partners; Support for enhancing the liquidity risk framework, including risk assessment, measurement, limit methodologies and development; Maintain current knowledge of local and global regulatory changes in the financial markets and prepare briefing materials for senior executives on implications to the Bank; Demonstrate strong project management, time management and relationship management skills to participate/lead cross-functional internal and external teams to deliver results within tight deadlines; Develop liquidity reporting and analytics to meet regulatory and internal management needs; Assist with the communication of liquidity matters to regulators and financial disclosures; Ensure operating standards and processes covering liquidity and funding management are followed. Provide recommendations for corrective action or improvements, as necessary; Report automation, and participation in cross-departmental projects, consistent with the bank's risk appetite framework, policies and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications General Knowledge:
Knowledge of financial analysis and financial modeling Knowledge of capital markets, market risk, and hedging strategies are an asset Knowledge of various research tools, including Bloomberg General knowledge of the Bank's structure and accounting systems a positive
Prior experience in Treasury or a relevant field (for example, Risk Management, Funding, Investment Banking or Corporate Finance, Capital Markets) a plus Good quantitative skills with the ability to analyze, evaluate and form independent views Excellent communication skills and delivers clear, effective communication (both verbal and written) Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet timelines with a high attention to detail and without compromising the integrity of deliverables Advanced financial modeling skills Strong interpersonal & leadership skills with the ability to develop strong relationships Excellent organizational skills Ability to interact with and build relationships with people from different departments and levels of seniority Ability to exercise independent thought and judgment and adapt to new tasks quickly Self-starter with good commercial perspective Ability to work independently and collaboratively (team player) Ability to synthesize technical information into simple thoughts Demonstrated computer skills with the ability to learn new systems and applications (programming a plus)
