This Research Project Manager will be responsible for the oversight of the portfolio of health system and Veteran Affairs (VA) projects conducted by the Penn Medicine Nudge Unit. There are currently about 20 projects in this portfolio, and we expect this number to grow substantially over the next few years. This individual will be responsible for assisting with duties related to the intake, oversight and conduct of projects. Additionally, this person will be responsible for managing Dr. Mitesh Patelâ™s research projects at the VA, funded through his Career Development Award and assisting with the preparation and submission of grants to the VA.
More specifically, this individual will manage office hours, helping to better structure the intake process by overseeing the development of a nudge framework tool for use internally at Penn and externally with other institutions. This person will create and maintain a tracking system for Nudge Unit projects that the Unit is either directly or indirectly involved with; act as liaison to health system faculty, clinicians and staff, offering feedback and advice on operational items needed to run a project; provide direct project support to project teams such as coordinating regulatory approval from the institutional review board and external agencies participating in the research, assisting with creation and maintenance of clinical trials, gov postings, and coordinating the use of Pennâ™s clinical trials management system by the project teams. Additionally, this individual will navigate project teams through IS by managing communications and meeting regularly with the Integrated CDS group; manage CRCs who will work on the day-to-day work of health system projects; work directly with data analysts to obtain baseline data and post intervention data; work with Epic analysts who will build functionality in the EHR for projects; collaborate with colleagues in CHCI on projects as needed; manage meetings with project teams, delegating and tracking completion of action items; and work with the Nudge Unitâ™s Assistant Director to plan steering committee meetings and Innovation Center Advisory board meeting presentations.
For the VA projects, this person will be responsible for the planning and implementation of the study protocols; organization, set-up and implementation of study procedures; conduct and oversee recruitment and enrollment for all projects; oversee data collection; track budgets, oversee expenses and manage study supplies, inventories and participant payments. This position will also manage all regulatory compliance with the VA IRB, including preparing modifications and continuing reviews and reporting adverse events. This position will prepare and submit monthly, quarterly, and annual reports to the sponsors; supervise a research coordinator for this project; oversee weekly team and investigator meetings; communicate with internal and external partners; manage publication drafting and submissions; and work closely with data analysts to ensure proper transfer of data. This position is contingent on funding.
