Reporting to the Executive Director of MarketingSolutions within Vanderbilt University's Division of Communications. TheDigital Asset Manager serves as administrator for the digital assetmanagement (DAM) system. The multimedia-savvy Digital Asset Managerpartners with Marketing Solutions, Internal/External Communications, theWeb/Social teams, IT, and key constituencies across the University to leveragethe DAM system to support and amplify the communications/marketing efforts ofthe Division of Communications and the University. This role is responsible forleading overall strategy, implementation and workflow of the DAM system,metadata creation and consistency, as well as overseeing usertraining/on-boarding. The ideal candidate will have an eye for selecting imagesand video that are remarkable and using the DAM to amplify/distribute thoseassets to the University, in support of key communications narratives.
The Digital Asset Manager ispart of the Marketing Solutions group within the Division of Communications. MarketingSolutions is a team of designers, editors, photographers, and projectmanagers. In close collaboration with colleagues across the Divisionof Communications, Marketing Solutions produces strategic marketing materialsthat inform, engage and inspire others to participate in VanderbiltUniversity's global academic and research mission.
Duties and Responsibilities
Upload, organize, communicate and curate assets for various communications and marketing needs throughout the Division and University (create collections, portals, searches and other as needed).
Understand the Vanderbilt brand and values, using the DAM to maximize our visual impact through strategic use of photography.
Act as system librarian and develop best practices for the DAM, including taxonomy, metadata schema, tagging standards, workflows and processes across the entire organization
Perform and supervise others in tagging and uploading of assets in DAM system
Use knowledge of photography and media to select and promote images that amplify the values and key narratives of the University
Provide asset download reports and metrics analysis
Manage all administrative functions and maintain the DAM system (register internal and external users, maintain accurate procedures and records for the system, manage permissions)
Key point of contact with DAM vendor, works in close liaison between vendor, Division, and IT on bug fixes, upgrades, and new feature development
Lead process improvements as it relates to asset management and usability for both internal and external teams to improve quality of asset data or efficiency of work
Educate, facilitate and evangelize for proper usage of DAM system across all departments
Create tutorial/instruction documents, supervise on-boarding and training of staff on DAM system
This position does not supervise others and reportsadministratively and functionally to the Executive Director of MarketingSolutions.
Profile of an Ideal Candidate
Bachelors Degree is necessary.
Preferred majors: Library Science, Archive Management, Information Systems, Knowledge Management, Data Science, or related area of study
1-3 years of digital asset management or related business experience/education
Extensive knowledge of DAM systems, including structure, functionality, taxonomy and metadata
Experience in technical user training and support
Ability to work effectively in a fast paced, team environment
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate, both written and verbally with other departments and stakeholders
Detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
Knowledge of all graphic file formats, their roles and particularities
Exceptional client service, interpersonal and problem-solving skills
Ability to adapt quickly to changing technology, systems and processes
Strong knowledge of DAM systems, metadata taxonomy, databases, copyright and rights management issues, strategy principles and concepts for assets and digital content
Demonstrated ability to work individually and collaboratively in a team environment
Excellent organizational skills, accuracy, and attention to detail
Experience with photography preferred
