The Industrial Hygiene position will serve as a key technical resource and are responsible for the development, implementation and sustainment of industrial hygiene and general safety programs. Candidates will have a proven track record of driving incident reduction results achieved through the application of sound technical judgment in the development and implementation of industrial hygiene strategies and tactics.
This role is required to use sound technical judgment to assess, analyze, identify, and solve a broad spectrum of workplace environment issues/hazards across a diverse group of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts businesses - including service sector, manufacturing, production, warehouse, construction and entertainment/theatrical operations - by performing and guiding others in the monitoring, sampling and observation of work tasks and locations. Must be knowledgeable of applicable safety and health standards and, when necessary, be able to resolve complex issues outside of established regulations. Will possess a keen attention to detail in documenting and cataloging investigation projects. Required to collaborate in the managing of Disney’s chemical products inventory system. Required to develop strong relationships and work as part of a team within a fast paced, matrix-style environment with all levels of leadership, cast members, vendors and contractors.
The role requires flexibility to modify one’s schedule to accommodate work as required. This role will be required to partner with the project managers and Safety Services Cast Members to effectively communicate safety concerns, issues, and best practices. The role requires standing and walking for 8 or more hours; working in inclement weather; wearing appropriate personal protective equipment; lifting/carrying; climbing steps; ladders; and, scaffolds. Exceptional candidates will have a proven track record of independently driving above average incident reduction results achieved through the development and implementation of targeted safety strategies and tactics.
10+ years of industrial hygiene experience with work in toxicology or environmental science, in an environment where workplace exposure monitoring and assessment has been a significant portion of the job responsibilities
Experience in a broad spectrum of hazard management, including biological, chemical and radiation
Knowledge of relevant regulatory and industry standards and guidelines
Possess strong knowledge of testing methods and associated use and applications of a wide range of sampling equipment, with proven abilities in results interpretation and data validation.
Demonstrated ability to use analytics and identify trends
Proven project management experience
Self-driven and resourceful professional with the ability to solve problems outside area of expertise
Demonstrated flexibility and ability to operate within an ambiguous and changing environment
Proven strong planning, organization and prioritization skills
Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills
Ability to resolve conflicts and diffuse difficult situations
Demonstrated strong consultative and influencing skills
Proven experience in training delivery
Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)
Years of experience working within the pharmaceutical, chemical manufacturing, petroleum refining or healthcare industry
Basic ergonomic experience
Bi-lingual language skills
4-year degree in Industrial Hygiene, life science, physical science or engineering discipline
Advanced degree in Industrial Hygiene
