MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS The candidate for the position of Los Nettos Manager must meet the following qualifications:
Bachelorâs degree in engineering, computer science, computer information systems, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Six years of experience in one of the following fields: information technology or network operations.
CCNP certification or equivalent experience.
Deep understanding of TCP/IP protocol suite.
Experience with L3 protocols such as STP and LACP.
Experience working in optical networking such as a multi-degree DWDM system.
Demonstrated experience with copper and fiber-optic cables and transceivers.
Proficient understanding and experience with Linux server management and allied software and applications.
Experience with DNS (BIND), MySQL, Apache, Perl, Python, and C.
Understanding of security best-practices such as VPN, firewall, encryption, etc.
Experience with switchers and routers.
Experience with optical platforms.
Proven experience delivering reliable and quality network services within a higher education, service provider, or similar environment.
Ability to develop positive working relationships and a strong rapport with team members.
Demonstrated collaboration and communication skills.
Excellent project management skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS The ideal candidate for the position of Los Nettos Manager has the following qualifications:
Masterâs degree in a relevant field such as business management, engineering, computer science, computer information systems, etc.
Eight years of experience in one of the following fields: information technology or network operations. Three or more years of experience in a management or leadership role.
Experience with Cisco and Arista switchers and routers.
Experience with Cisco and Ciena optical platforms.
Ability to develop positive working relationships and a strong rapport with team members; demonstrated experience in leading a multifunctional team.
Is a persuasive and effective communicator with the ability to interact with a wide variety of stakeholders and with experience presenting the business side of technical topics to non- technical audiences.
THE WORK YOU WILL DO The Los Nettos Manager leads the day-to-day technical operations of the regional network as well as the design and implementation of new technologies. The Los Nettos Manager oversees a team of network engineers to ensure that best-in-class connectivity is delivered to Los Angeles area educational and research organizations. As a representative of the regional network, the Los Nettos Manager routinely interfaces with customers and participates in presentations to existing and prospective members and associates. As a member of ITS, the Los Nettos Manager is expected to model and cultivate ITSâs cultural values and behaviors within his or her team.
Job Accountabilities The Los Nettos Manager:
Manages the development of team members by helping them set and achieve goals for their career growth and fosters an inclusive environment that values differences and creates a sense of belonging and appreciation among team members.
Supports the vision for infrastructure services; works with other ITS leaders to develop and manage a holistic strategy for delivering service quality and continuous service improvement.
Builds and maintains strong relationships with customers, partners, and stakeholders to ensure consistent, reliable service is delivered to a range of university stakeholders and Los Nettos regional network customers and stakeholders
Works closely with ITS leadership, the Los Nettos Technical Committee and the Los Nettos Board of Directors to identify, implement, and support cost-effective, leading solutions for the Los Nettos network.
Manages the day-to-day engineering and programming required to deliver reliable and high- quality network service to regional partners by collaborating with ITS staff and leadership, monitoring status, and reporting about performance.
Defines standard processes for day-to-day programming and engineering management, regional partnerships, optical and network infrastructure upgrades, and standard reporting; improves and enhances high-speed connectivity by facilitating the upgrade of the Los Nettos optical and network infrastructure to support additional advanced technologies.
Sets technology strategy for Los Nettos network infrastructure, Los Nettos associate and consortium programs, and additional advanced technologies to provide excellent customer service and fulfill changing business and academic needs.
