MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS The candidate for the position of Data Architect must meet the following qualifications:
Bachelorâs degree in a relevant field such as data science, computer science, computer information systems, etc., or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Minimum of two years of experience in information technology or data science.
Experience developing and delivering data architecture solutions and strategies.
Strong understanding of data modeling, master data management, enterprise data warehousing, ETL, reporting, querying, requirements analysis, and data integration techniques.
Extensive knowledge of databases and experience in database development.
Understanding of database server architecture, administration, and security.
Basic knowledge of network architecture.
Ability to understand and work with large, complex systems.
Experience contributing to and managing development policies, processes, and procedures.
Strong communicator with experience presenting technical topics in a technically-oriented, detailed fashion to technical audiences.
Strong communicator with experience presenting technical topics in a business-oriented fashion to non-technical audiences.
Ability to develop positive working relationships and a strong rapport with team members and stakeholders.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS The ideal candidate for the position of Data Architect has the following qualifications:

More than four years of experience in information technology or data science.
THE WORK YOU WILL DO
The Data Architect supports the development of data modeling standards, guidelines, leading-edge practices, and approved modeling techniques and approaches. The Data Architect manages the data architecture for ITS, identifies business requirements and functional designs, and supports prototyping, testing, and training. As a member of ITS, the Data Architect demonstrates ITS values in action.
The Data Architect:
Develops and maintains a repository of documentation related to data architecture standards, protocols, frameworks, and techniques. Participates in regular touch points with department leaders, data teams, and vendors.
Conceptualizes data architecture by identifying business requirements, designs, prototypes, testing, and training. Contributes to overall data modeling standards, guidelines, leading edge practices, and approved data modeling techniques and approaches. Develops conceptual, logical, and physical data models. Supports development of data strategies by building roadmaps and processes that meet current and anticipated future needs.
Gains insights into customer pain points, challenges, and needs for data. Assists in identifying business value opportunities for customers, partners, and key stakeholders in administrative and academic units. Seeks to deliver quality solutions.
Learns and adapts quickly to new situations, changing priorities, and disruptive technologies. Participates in the innovation and continuous improvement process by leveraging the latest industry knowledge and taking the initiative to experiment with new ideas and technologies.
Continually develops skills, knowledge, and abilities to maintain currency with new developments in data architecture, data integrations, APIs, and data management. Researches and makes recommendations on data tools and services.
Analyzes broad problems and escalations by analyzing trends and performing root cause analysis. Engages with system and business owners to identify and recommend solutions for problem resolution and prevention. Aligns decision making with the organization's vision.
