MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS The candidate for the position of Learning & Development Manager must meet the following qualifications:
Bachelorâs degree in a relevant field such as organizational development, communications, business administration, etc., or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Six years of experience in a relevant field such as organizational development, organizational behaviors, communications, information technology, or higher education.
Experience implementing a centralized learning content and delivery strategy and system to manage self-help and instructor-led training.
Experience creating a robust learning and development strategy to support the delivery of ITS services to customers and stakeholders.
Experience creating a learning and development program and curricula for a large, complex organization.
Experience developing and managing a diverse, high-performing team.
Experience providing frequent, regular performance coaching and encouraging effective behavior for individual and team success.
Experience supporting customer needs and articulating a strategy that motivates others to action.
Proven ability to comply with and enforce pertinent policies, procedures, regulations, and requirements.
Experience in change management governance processes and development.
Experience developing customer relationships and delivering a customer-focused service.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS The ideal candidate for the position of Learning & Development Manager has the following qualifications:
Bachelorâs or advanced degree in a relevant field such as organizational development, communications, business administration, etc.
Eight or more years of experience in a relevant field such as organizational development, organizational behaviors, communications, information technology, or higher education. Three or more years of experience in a management or leadership role.
Experience creating a learning and development program and curricula for an IT organization.
Experience creating training plans, curriculum and content related to system implementations (i.e. Workday, Salesforce, etc.).
Experience with LMS platforms (i.e. Cornerstone) and eLearning tools (i.e. Captivate).
THE WORK YOU WILL DO The Learning and Development Manager is responsible for collaborating with key leaders, stakeholders, and subject matter experts across ITS to establish learning and development (L&D) methodologies, policies, procedures, processes and tools. The Learning and Development Manager evaluates organizational training and development needs and implements standardized training and development strategies, tactics and plans. This position manages the development and implementation of instructional design curricula for instructor-led, web-based, and blended delivery training.Â The Learning and Development Manager also facilitates and evaluates training classes to ensure best practices and curricula are delivered effectively. As a member of ITS, the Learning and Development Manager is expected to model and cultivate ITSâs cultural values and behaviors within his or her team.
Job Accountabilities: The Learning & Development Manager:
Is responsible for leading the build of an ITS learning and development (L&D) methodology and framework including the Learning Management System (LMS) strategy, processes, templates, and tools to build sustaining capabilities across the organization. Makes continuous improvements to L&D practice as needed to increase the effectiveness of training delivered to ITS customers. Measures and monitors training efforts and action plans as needed.
Assures consistent application of ITS L&D methodology, tools and templates across project portfolio. Is a leader and driver of L&D best practices within the ITS organization.
Analyzes and assesses project and organizational L&D needs. Is responsible for understanding the training implications of ITS activities and recommending strategies and tactics to ensure that customers are trained so that systems and process changes are transitioned with minimal disruption to business operations. Determines training timelines, resource needs, and essential curricula to meet specific project and organizational needs.
Manages, leads and guides the learning and development team members to ensure that appropriate L&D strategies are developed for large, significant and complex initiatives. Partners with leadership to confirm L&D resourcing needs. Leads sourcing efforts for L&D resource needs.
Oversees the development, validation and implementation of instructor-led, web-based, and blended delivery training. Designs tools and programs. Researches innovations and trends in learning techniques, technologies, and practices.
Coaches and develops a team of learning and development professionals. Oversees the education and training for teammates to ensure the design and delivery of coursework is aligned with the visions and goals of ITS.
Manages the development of team members by helping them set and achieve goals for their career growth. Fosters an inclusive environment that values differences and creates a sense of belonging and appreciation for team members. Leads by example, demonstrating ethics, high accountability, and actively drives the process of embedding the ITS values and behaviors. Contributes to a culture of trust and transparency. Drives best-in-class customer service to USC through effective team member engagement.
Supports the vision for Engagement, Culture and Communications. Works with other ITS leaders to develop and manage a holistic strategy for delivering service quality and continuous service improvement. Supports governance for learning and development through the implementation of standards, procedures, and quality measures.
Builds and maintains strong relationships with customers, partners, and stakeholders to ensure consistent, reliable service is delivered to a range of university stakeholders.
Works closely with ITS leadership to identify, implement, and support cost-effective, leading solutions for learning and development by maintaining currency with industry standards, supporting process optimization, providing input to department budget planning, and monitoring and managing resources.
