Dornsife Technology Services (DTS) is seeking an IT Technical Writer to join its team. We support over 2,000 faculty, staff and students in the Dana and David Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences at USC. DTS prides itself on a customer service oriented and entrepreneurial approach to technology support of teaching, research and administration. The DTS team is comprised of highly-skilled, friendly, and approachable professionals who are dedicated to solving technology problems and offering technology solutions.
Duties and Responsibilities
Develop documentation on policies, procedures, and processes for internal training and end-user outreach.
Document common issues, resolution steps, and self-help articles for internal use and end-user self-guided solutions.
Use photographs, drawings, diagrams, animation, and charts to increase users' understanding
Maintain and update library of canned responses, template letters, and forms.
Train helpdesk staff on new solutions and common software questions.
Hold recurring group training classes on IT topics of interest.
Record online training webinars on IT topics of interest.
Develop and distribute announcements and newsletters on IT topics of interest.
Curate library of documentation and training materials to maintain currency.
Manage social media accounts and digital signage to enhance outreach efforts.
Provide one-on-one user training on specialized topics and develop documentation for future reference.
Collaborate with team to research and suggest new products, services, and solutions that may improve IT processes.
Minimum Qualificationsâ¢Documented experience providing in-person training and written work in relevant position.â¢Attention to detail and organizational skill.â¢Analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracyâ¢Ability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts and make them easily understandable in text and picturesâ¢Excellent communication and teamwork skillsâ¢Proficiency in leading group training classesPreferred Qualificationsâ¢Experience with an IT Service Management platformâ¢Strong command of language, grammar, copywriting and editing.â¢Strong background in Microsoft Office applicationsâ¢Familiarity with IT troubleshooting workflow and methodologyWork LocationUniversity Park Campus in Los Angeles, California.
