Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Unit Computing Specialist for Rutgers Health Services. This position reports to the Assistant Director of Information Technology (ADIT). The Unit Computing Specialist is responsible for providing end user support and assistance in health care informatics programs, projects, and services including electronic health and counseling records, pharmacy and tele-pharmacy systems, web-based software, reporting, system security and specialized training.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
While reporting to RSH’s ADIT, this position has a high degree of independent decision making in terms of hardware/software support including maintenance of multiple servers and running software of a high level of complexity. The UCS is an integral component of the RSH server administration group along with the ADIT.
With the ever expanding involvement of technology in the medical/mental health fields, the UCS selects and recommends new hardware and software for use throughout RSH.
Liaisons with OIT, Information Technology Services (ITS), and healthcare vendors, and will function as a high-level resource for healthcare information technology support and training of end users within multiple healthcare disciplines to assist in leveraging RSH healthcare technologies and improve healthcare delivery.
RSH relies on the UCS to make sound decisions and to provide a high level of end user support to the entire RSH community including doctors, nurses, medical techs, medical residents, psychologists, psychotherapist, social workers, students and staff.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Requires a bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience;
A minimum of two years relevant experience in Windows 10 and Windows 7 operating systems, technical security and information technology best practices.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of databases, reporting, LANs, and networking components required. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills
Ability to handle multiple concurrent tasks and constant interruptions
The UCS should demonstrate the maturity and poise to communicate and work effectively with the entire RSH community.
Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and be willing to travel, when necessary, to sites throughout New Jersey for business demands.
Experience in health care environment, electronic medical records, medical and pharmacy management systems, SharePoint systems, and HIPAA standards and regulations are strongly preferred.
Software: Medicat, Welch Allyn Interface and Cardio Perfect EKG, Online Student Health, Drug Database, Quest Interface, HBS Pharmacy Management, ADDS Telepharmacy, and SharePoint. Hardware: 3 PC based electronic EKGs, 1 digital holter monitor, approximately 10 scanners, 10 laptops, 2 Telepharmacy machines, 2 Telepharmacy printers, and 2 projectors, and a growing number of mobile devices. Approximately 174 workstations and 200 users Applications are complex.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Must be able to move between RSH's various sites and carry equipment that can weigh up to 20lbs.
