The Multimedia Specialist creates instructional multimedia for online and hybrid courses, websites, presentations, and other materials in support of instructional programs and activities at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. The Multimedia Specialist will use a variety of media and web content applications as well as audio and video capture programs to create new or improve existing instructional content for online delivery that may combine text, graphics, animations, simulations, and interactive elements. The Multimedia Specialist will also assist with the administration of digital signage systems.

Associate’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline and one year of experience in the information technology field related to the area of assignment; or bachelor’s degree and one year of experience in the information technology field related to the area of assignment; or bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Knowledge of principles and techniques of multimedia design; knowledge of instructional technology tools, strategies, and resources; and knowledge of current trends in the production and post-production of multimedia elements and instructional media technology.
Experience creating multimedia elements for instruction and online courses, and must have experience developing course materials and multimedia elements for placement in learning management systems such as Blackboard and Canvas.
Experience with the operation and use of a wide variety of technical equipment such as video cameras, hand-held digital cameras, web cameras, microphones, sound equipment, projectors, etc.
Knowledge of basic web design and current web streaming principles, methods, and techniques.
Knowledge of basic website usability concepts and Section 508 compliance standards for website design and video captioning, to ensure accessibility to students with disabilities. Applicants should have knowledge of basic trademark and copyright law and fair use principles for education.
Experience with the basic operation of computer operating systems and strong PC/Mac skills.
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), excellent analytical and problem solving skills, and should possess a positive customer service attitude. Applicant should be a self-starter able to work independently and in a team-based environment.
