Reporting to the Associate Dean, Communications in the Office of Admissions, the Senior Communications & Digital Design Specialist (CDS) is responsible for the development of strategy and the tactical creation and implementation of visual content for the Penn Admissions website, new/social media, lead generation pages, marketing drip campaigns, and other emerging platforms that play a critical role in Penn Admissionsâ™ larger recruitment objectives. The CDS will manage, supervise, and mentor a team of student employees during the academic year to produce an expansive library of digital assets for all Penn Admissions communications channels that will power the content strategy of our new website. They must create and train others on a sophisticated meta-data tagging system that will allow these assets to be catalogued within the Digital Asset Management System. They must possess the experience and communication skills to direct and translate Penn Admissionsâ™ new brand guidelines, including training staff, students, and a variety of external vendors on the brand standards, and will be the primary creative lead on all design-related projects within the department, including those involving external vendor partnerships. Though teamwork and collaboration are critical aspects of this role, the CDS must exercise a high level of independent thinking, including establishing procedures to monitor and direct all visual asset creation across all mediums and channels to ensure they adhere to brand standards. The role demands a level of professionalism appropriate for managing projects that have significant budget impact, and which involve external vendors, consultants, and other senior Penn administrators, including the Dean of Admissions. In addition, the CDS manages large-scale projects across the office, related to complex marketing and communications initiatives that pertain to recruitment and yield, including facilitating cross-functional team meetings using meeting-management and project-management best practices to drive timelines, communication, timely and efficient decision-making, and successful execution of Admissions core marketing, communications, and recruitment
Bachelorâ™s Degree required in Graphic Design or a related field preferred. 3 to 5 years of relevant applied graphic and digital design experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office. Expert in Adobe Creative Cloud design and digital media applications. Experience with MAC and PC platforms. Solid knowledge of HTML and CSS required. Experience with Content Management Systems, and Customer Relations Management Software preferred. Experience translating wireframes into polished on-brand user interfaces. Knowledge of four-color printing, pre-press, and the basic production process. Accountability, attention to detail, and ability to deliver projects at high quality standards is essential. Demonstrated project management ability with excellent written, verbal and listening communication skills. Ability to work collegially and collaboratively in a team setting and independently required.
