Civitlec Engineering, Inc. is seeking one or more full-time Project Engineers with at least five years’ experience in the field of water and wastewater systems planning, design, and construction management. The qualified candidates will develop detailed designs for water and wastewater treatment, supply, production, collection, distribution, transmission, and conveyance using standard engineering practices.
Using prescribed methods, performs specific and limited portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer.
Applies standard practices and techniques in specific situations, adjusts and correlates data, recognizes discrepancies in results, and follows operations through a series of related detailed steps or processes.
Directs and performs the preparation of improvement plans, specifications, supporting documents and permit applications for projects, utility infrastructure and public works projects.
Directs and performs the preparation of calculations, such as storm drain, wastewater, water system, hydrologic, earthwork quantities, transportation, cost estimates and other supporting documentation for public and private projects.
Performs plan design through coordination of drafting and publishing using CAD software. Working knowledge of the current version of AutoCAD is beneficial. Performs basic GIS tasks including creating exhibits, spatial data functions, and small database analysis.
May direct the work of CAD Technicians.
Organize and maintain project files. Maintain a neat and organized work area that allows efficient access to information required by other team members.
Assure that drawings and designs are in accordance with company production, codes and established design standards.
Develop planning documents and studies through written correspondence, both internal and external, qualifying decisions and calculations performed.
Keep Project Managers informed of workload and any changes in project scope or additional services.
Review customer source control drawings, specification control drawings and other applicable specifications to determine requirements and/or feasibility of the component.
Work with the QA/QC Manager to define problem areas and implement design improvements based on client input and concerns.
Participate in engineering and general design review as required.
Interact with clients on engineering design and any questions/problems they may have.
Interact with vendors concerning equipment and materials they supply or propose to supply to the project.
Apply intensive and diversified knowledge of civil engineering principles and practices in broad areas.
Expertise in AutoCAD, Civil3D, ArcGIS, hydraulic modeling and other software packages associated with civil engineering design and analysis.
Markets the firm’s capabilities within the community to establish new clients and enhance relationships with existing clients.
Performs other assigned related duties as requested.

Required Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering from an accredited university.
Registration as a Professional Civil Engineer in California.
Minimum 5-7 years’ previous design experience specifically in water and wastewater systems.
Understanding in computer operation for engineering design programs and AutoCAD Civil3D.
Expertise in using Microsoft Office suite programs, specifically Word, Excel, Teams and Outlook. Has the capacity to learn additional engineering software.
Understanding of applicable design codes.
University courses in water resources, water engineering, environmental engineering, wastewater treatment, and/or hydraulics.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications Proficient in the design of water and wastewater treatment plants.
Supervisory Responsibility This position may supervise Staff Engineers, Designers and CAD Technicians.
Work Environment This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and video conferencing.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Civiltec is normally open for business between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday – Friday, except on every other Friday, Civiltec is closed by virtue of the approval of an alternative workweek schedule.
Travel Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be necessary.
