Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking an Assistant Director, QA/QC & Commissioning for the IPO- Project Services Division. This position is under the guidance of the Executive Director, Capital Construction Project Management. The Assistant Director, Commissioning & QA/QC manages the quality assurance and quality control of the design and construction of Capital projects and major equipment replacement and installation within Project Services.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Develops procedures for commissioning and overseeing commissioning services for all construction projects.
Manages a staff of Project Engineers dedicated to various disciplines to ensure contractor is in compliance with construction documents and applicable codes.
Manages the outside commissioning agents and supervise in house commissioning activities and staff.
Provides reporting of the construction process, workmanship and any defects observed and monitor to ensure issues are resolved.
Manages and ensures staff successfully monitors the process and provides the appropriate documentation and conducts productive reviews for the various discipline (ie., site & site utilities, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, building envelope, civil, roofing etc...).
Monitors and provides reporting of the construction process, workmanship and any defects observed.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field; or an equivalent combination of education/experience.
Requires a minimum of 5 year experience in the construction industry in a supervisory role and in a commissioning role.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Familiarity with codes and construction sequencing and OSHA.
Familiar with building management systems and MEP systems.
Must be able to review drawings.
Very familiar with all aspects of the design process, be able to direct the work of other team members, evaluate options, and make sound decision.
Familiar with BIM360 docs and the project management suite.
Must have a good understanding of the construction management of small to medium size construction projects and managed projects.
Prefers 15+ years experience in the construction industry in a supervisory role and in a commissioning role.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Extensive walking on the construction site to complete daily inspections.
Lifting and walking up may be required. Activities related to working on a construction site.
Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and be willing to travel, when necessary, to sites throughout New Jersey for business demands.
