The Assistant Director of Student Success is a full-time professional position dedicated to student success and persistence initiatives. Reporting to the Assistant Vice President for Student Success and Retention, this position assists in implementing undergraduate student persistence initiatives. This position provides direct support/success coaching to students, actively monitors the progress of these students, and implements student success programming. Additionally, this position assists in the management of the Starfish early alert system. The Assistant Director also collects and analyzes data to inform the actions and efforts of the Office for Student Success and Retention.
An advanced degree in Student Affairs, Higher Education or related field, or an equivalent level of education and experience. Candidate must have considerable progressive professional experience in student affairs or higher education. Knowledge and understanding of current retention issues and strategies in Higher Education. Experience in developing programs and activities that encourage student success. Ability to lead collaborative groups. Experience analyzing data /identifying trends, and assessment. Demonstrated presentation and project management skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Demonstrated commitment to issues of diversity and success in working with diverse populations.
Experience working with first generation and at-risk student populations, developing and implementing retention strategies, as well as involvement with mentoring programs. Experience in academic advising. Prior experience with early alert software systems. Prior experience with crisis management/interventions for students experiencing difficulty. Ability to exercise considerable independent and professional judgment.
