Job Requisition Number: 27287. New Academic Ventures at Berkeley (NAV-B) is responsible for revenue generation programs for the University of California, Berkeley. Reaching out across campus, NAV-B develops and leads strategic initiatives that tap into the vast academic and research resources of the University. Using a consultative approach, NAV-B builds and assesses business opportunities for the campus, including by way of example, self-supporting degree programs, international partnerships, novel and custom academic programs, startup and entrepreneurial support and capital improvement and redevelopment opportunities.
•Provides highly complex analyses across a broad spectrum of programs, policies and initiatives or provides in-depth, complex analyses as a specialist in one policy field. •Develops and coordinates policy communications; formulates strategies for education and academic quality. •Develops and advocates solutions to system issues, including developing and administering new systems, policies, processes, or programs. •Provides analyses for complex budget, financial, academic, data, systems and resource projects working directly with all levels of managers. •Proposes, leads and/or participates on policy and planning committees and working groups. •Researches and summarizes best practices in field. •Develops proposals and recommendations to guide and support a broader strategic direction for the organization. •Collaborates with academic and administrative departments to coordinate the development, implementation and monitoring of new programs and processes. •Makes high level contacts of a sensitive nature, internally and externally requiring discretion and diplomacy in order to negotiate with or persuade internal and external stakeholders to adopt the proposed solution. •Project manages academic projects, following through with all levels of academic and staff individuals inside and outside the organization. •Develops project plans including goals, tasks, schedules, deliverables, milestones, deadlines, and deliverables. •Monitors progress against the plan, communicating with stakeholders and others on progress, deadlines, dependencies, and budgets. •Identifies and develops plans for risk mitigation. •Develops and presents complex proposals and/or business plans on a broad range of issues to include problem identification, costs, benefits and options.•Intermediate to advanced knowledge of common campus-specific computer applications. •Strong analytical/problem-solving skills •Advanced communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with internal and external audiences. •Ability to multi-task with demanding time-frames. •Ability to use discretion and maintain all confidentiality. •Advanced skills in corporate development. •Strong entrepreneurial spirit, solid business acumen and ability to learn about new technologies being developed by campus. •Ability to manage multiple projects with competing priorities and deadlines
Education/Training: •Education or training in marketing, business strategy, and/or corporate development preferred.
