University of California, Irvine Department of Psychological Science Specialist in Digital Mental Health
Applicants are invited to apply for specialist positions at the University of California, Irvine (UCI), Department of Psychological Science. The positions are full-time for those with a strong interest in digital mental health, and positions will be available at multiple specialist levels. Specialists will work in the TEchnology and Mental Health (TEAM) Lab, directed by Dr. Stephen Schueller, which explores how technology, particularly smartphone apps, can be used in the treatment and management of mental health and can improve the delivery of mental health services.
Specialists will work on a California Mental Health Services Authority (CalMHSA) funded formative evaluation for the Innovation Technology Suite Project (INN Tech Suite Project). This is a three-year demonstration project that was developed to improve mental health care access and delivery throughout California using mobile mental health technologies. The INN Tech Suite Project is a multi-county collaborative and activities will include travel within California for project activities. Fellows may also work on PsyberGuide (PsyberGuide.org), a non-profit project (funded by https://onemind.org/) that aims to improve people's ability to find beneficial mental health apps.
Job responsibilities include conducting mixed-methods data collection in various clinical and community-based settings, assisting in qualitative data analysis, database management and coordination of data from external sources, preparing reports and other scientific outputs, identifying and reviewing apps and digital tools, and assisting in the development of research protocols and materials. Specialists will interact with leadership and stakeholders from counties, clinics, and CalMHSA, and support project logistics.
Applicants with B.A. M.A., M.S., PhD in public health, psychology, social work or related field are invited, as there are positions at various levels available. This is an ideal position for applicants interested in implementation science and digital health. Applicants should have excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills. Mixed-methods experience and knowledge of qualitative analysis and statistical software is desirable. Previous experience partnering with community stakeholders and community-based organizations would also be an advantage.
