The Associate Director assists instructors, through the purposeful use of technology and new media, in advancing the educational goals of the curriculum, manages the planning and development of educational projects defined by faculty or school partners, and leads digital projects and platforms to improve the teaching effectiveness of faculty, postdoctoral, adjunct, and other instructors at CUIMC through the design and development of digital projects, consultations, and resources.
Develops plans for applying educational theory and technology to a specific learning or teaching problem. Provides support to instructors in the creation and implementation of course websites using course management systems, and online resources such as wikis, blogs, and media platforms. Applies emerging instructional technologies and evolving standards in educational practice and design. Defines the scope of complex projects and services. Produces instructional materials for using technologies covered in the course. Provides oversight to programmers and designers on development of digital materials.
Contribute to strategic planning for the CTL, identify and form partnerships at CUIMC to address new needs and opportunities in the digital realm for teaching support. Partner with CUIMC schools to identify and promote instructional technologies appropriate to specific disciplinary settings and accessible to a diverse student body. Represent CUIMC Programs and Services on appropriate technology committees and working groups. Integrate best practices and resources available beyond Columbia into the work of the CTL, and represent the CTL's work at briefings, campus visits, conferences, and other academic venues.
Design and implement programs and services related to digital projects and digital platforms to support pedagogy and effective teaching and learning practices for faculty, postdoctoral, adjunct, and other instructors at CUIMC. Programs and services will include learning communities, seminars, and institutes in teaching and learning with digital tools, as well as online materials such as guides, blogs, and other social media posts. Consult and collaborate with other CTL teams and staff as needed.
Keep abreast of research, trends, and innovations in instructional design, instructional technologies, and teaching and learning as applied to face to face, blended, and online learning environments, through appropriate publication channels and collaborations beyond the university.
Working closely with the Director, CUIMC Programs and Service and Associate Director for Assessment and Evaluation, will develop assessment based metrics to guide the development of CUIMC digital programs.
Support the Director, CUIMC Programs and Services in overseeing general office operation; organizing programming and team meetings; preparing reports; and hiring and supervising part-time staff. Perform other duties as assigned.

Bachelor's degree and 5-7 years of related experience (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).
Experience leading educational technology initiatives, implementing technology solutions at scale
Experience collaborating with campus committees.
Well-developed instructional design and assessment skills.
Current knowledge of best practices and emerging trends in instructional design and instructional technology.
Experience in applying research to instructional design, instructional technologies, and faculty development.
Strong communication skills and service-oriented approach to individuals at all levels and across disciplines.
Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with administrators, academic units, faculty, graduate students, technical teams, and other staff.
Excellent organizational, analytical, and project development skills. Ability to juggle multiple assignments and provide high quality, timely support.
Demonstrated commitment to diversity in the academic environment
Experience implementing online courses.
Contribution to a scholarship in instructional design and/or educational technology.
