Summary: Maintains, monitors, designs and supports technical aspects of business and clinical IT applications to ensure reliability and maximum uptime. Under limited supervision, System Administrator is responsible for overall applications administration including supporting, evaluating, implementing and troubleshooting hardware, software, and systems for an Enterprise environment. Working closely with Analysts, Engineers and customers maintains a high level of service for systems and anticipates future requirements, trends, and changes to assure current and future customer satisfaction. Based on basic understanding of the applications and workflows supported, performs troubleshooting of systems problems. As part of leading small to medium size projects, is able to estimate costs of system solutions and prepare work plans.
Standard Work Duties: System Administrator III - Identifies and seeks opportunities for activities related to team development, employee engagement activities, and achievement of department goals and objectives. - Stays abreast of technology changes for solutions in scope and recommends upgrades or patches to remain on supported versions and to take advantage of latest improvements. - Serves as an information system consultant within department and across departments in relationship to applications/systems in scope. - Proactively seeks understanding of the applications/systems supported and drives ongoing maintenance and support activities with limited input from other resources. - Follows Information Services methodologies, processes, policies, and procedures. Develops operational procedures and documents for systems, including release management, architecture, interfaces, system maintenance plan, system inventory, recovery procedure, troubleshooting procedure. Proactively trains and mentors others. - With input from others, recommends solutions based on business and technical requirements and performs assessments of solutions which will include benefits, costs, components, level of effort, impacts, risks and proposed timelines. - Serves as project lead on small to medium IT solutions within and across departments. This may include developing the project charter, tracking project status, communication, planning and implementation of deliverables. - Creates and utilizes unit and integrated test scripts and testing plans. - Demonstrates a complete understanding of the solution(s) in scope, the integration of applications, user communities, high level workflows and any third parties impacted by the application(s). - Proactively recommends and drives the implementation of systems improvements and optimization
