The Communications Specialist will be an integral member of the Communications team for the Office of Academic Clinical Affairs (OACA). Reporting to the Director of Communications, this position works closely with the Electronic Communications Manager, and other faculty and staff to provide professional communications support to the office in its efforts to communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Writing & Editing - 75% • Identify unique and compelling stories that highlight OACA’s mission and vision • Write, edit and coordinate the production of a variety of content such as articles, website copy, press releases, research briefs, etc. • Proofread, copy-edit and fact-check content for grammar, punctuation, accuracy, style, etc. • Coordinate and conduct interviews • Recommend editorial coverage of unit activities either internally or externally
Plan and implement a social media strategy - 10% • Develop and maintain an editorial calendar for social media • Create unique content and amplify OACA unit messages on social media platforms • Maintain and present metrics on engagement and social media impressions to demonstrate success of communications and strategy
Manage Communications Projects – 15% • Create and/or manage other materials, including printed collateral, posters, digital signage, videos, etc. • Manage the work of vendors, including graphic design, photography, printing, addressing/mailing, video production, and others as needed to ensure projects are on-time, accurate, and align with University and OACA branding guidelines • Manage logistics and scheduling for OACA events • Assist with other communications projects as needed

Essential Qualifications: • BA/BS degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Art, or a related field with two years of professional experience, or six years combined equivalent education and experience • Strong writing and editing skills • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues at all levels to facilitate positive working relationships and further cross-functional projects and initiatives • Demonstrated analytical, prioritizing, and project management skills
Preferred Qualifications: • Four years of professional communications experience • Experience in developing content for social media • Knowledge of Adobe InDesign and PhotoShop software and basic functions • Ability to work under pressure with accuracy, meet deadlines, handle interruptions and work independently when needed
