This is a TEMPORARY position that will end on June 30, 2020. Under supervision and with a wide latitude for independent judgment the Temporary Assistant to the Chair manages the day-to-day operations of the Film/Video Department, supports the activities of the Chairperson and monitors budget activities.
Coordinate daily office activities: order and maintain supplies and equipment, supervise student workers, respond to telephone, email and in-person inquiries, maintain the Chairperson's calendar, open and direct mail and deliveries, etc.
Maintain and oversee department budget and monitor department's financial activities: initiate purchase orders, payment vouchers and credit card purchases; keep track of expenses; prepare reports and anticipate accruals.
Coordinate with Film/Video Tech Office and Facilities Management to oversee maintenance of department facilities and equipment.
Generate correspondence, schedules, forms, letters, memos, reports, etc.
Serve as a liaison to film majors and faculty, as well as other Institute departments (Dean's Office, Human Resources, Facilities, Comptroller, Budget, etc.). Act as a liaison to external organizations to develop relationships and resources for the department.
Compile information for research, reports and special projects and assist the Chairperson with project management.
Perform all other related duties as assigned.
Education: Bachelor's degree required. At least three years office administrative experience, including working with budgets required.
Experience: Experience in an art related and/or higher education environment and background working with and supervising students preferred.
MS Office (Word & Excel) required.
Google Docs & Google Drive skills required.
Must have excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication, and organization skills.
Graphic design and video editing skills a plus.
