The department is the steward for a $1.8 billion asset portfolio covering 1/3 of Stanford's campus and has a $272 million annual operating budget for FY17. R&DE comprises 800+ staff in the following divisions: the Office of the Senior Associate Vice Provost (SAVP Office), Student Housing, Stanford Dining, Stanford Hospitality & Auxiliaries, Stanford Conferences, and a team of four R&DE strategic business partners: Finance & Administration, Human Resources, Information Technology, and Strategic Communications. R&DE houses 13,000+ students and their dependents while serving over 6.5 million meals annually to students, conference, catering, retail, and concession guests and annually hosts a combined 52,000 guests in the Stanford Guest House and on-campus in Stanford Conferences.
R&DE Information Technology consists of 26 full and part-time staff. The department is organized into six teams: CIO office, Portfolio and Project Management Office, Applications Development, Support Services, Security, and Systems Administration. R&DE IT supports over 65 applications and integrations, 2,200 technology assets, and 900+ users. In addition to providing excellence in everything they do, R&DE IT is dedicated to the mission and core values of Residential & Dining Enterprises.
The Project and Portfolio Management team, of which this position is a member, is looking to expand the team's portfolio by hiring an experienced Project Manager. This position will assist R&DE IT by managing internal and external projects, help establish and implement portfolio and project management methodologies and procedures, and by creating a community of practice for staff.
This position involves managing the outcome of IT projects with a defined beginning and end. Manages the development and implementation process involving departmental or cross-functional teams. Plans, coordinates and monitors schedules, budgets, staff, and deliverables. Monitors the project from initiation through delivery. Organizes the interdepartmental activities ensuring completion of the project on schedule and within budget constraints.
Manage the entire collection of projects and/or programs undertaken by an organization or division in a manner that ensures their alignment with the university's strategic objectives. Typically proposes new initiatives and champions the business and technical planning and conceptual efforts for major projects and initiatives. Provide limited technical contribution as needed to successfully complete projects.
Organizes the interdepartmental activities ensuring completion of the project/product on schedule and within budget constraints.
Perform the full range of project management cycle: initiating, planning, executing, monitoring and controlling, and closing. Independently lead and direct projects requiring high levels of functional integration and involving multiple disciplines to be managed.
Direct development of an action plan, and estimate requirements for resources, including management, labor, materials, and time required to complete project.
Facilitate discussions and negotiations to drive recommendation consensus.
Create and help execute comprehensive change management strategy and communication plan relative to project/portfolio scope and stakeholders; orchestrate and lead change management methodologies underlying project success.
Project complexity involves some of the most complex, technologically advanced integrations within Higher Education with budgets in the millions of dollars.
These elements typically delineate the project management involved at this level: charter origination, scope identification, shaping, and definition; # of disciplines /stakeholders to manage is across-university impact, and city, county, and major donor constituents; risk-manage, control, and report on risk associated with numerous projects and programs, affecting an entire School or business entity's project program and risk sharing and control is the project manager's responsibility; project complexity involves some of the most complex, new technology to be utilized and facilitate decisions requiring consideration of wide influences to drive a decision; primary university relationship is at the deans, donors and executive committee level; cumulative budget/scope from $600k to over $2 million.

Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in a related field and ten years of progressively responsible, relevant project management experience performing duties similar to those listed above or combination of education and relevant experience.

Keen grasp of interpersonal and impact awareness.
Experience with building or facility management applications.
PMI Project Management Professional or PMI Business Analysis
Higher Education experience
Certifications and Licenses:
Project Management Professional (PMP) certified completion of a Project Management Certificate program or certification in process.
Frequently sit, perform desk-based computer tasks, and grasp lightly/fine manipulation and lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.
Occasionally stand/walk, write by hand.
Use a telephone, kneel, crawl, climb ladders, twist/bend/stoop/squat, reach/work above shoulder, grasp forcefully.
