Stanford University, Division of Primary Care and Population Health, is seeking a Social Science Research Professional 1 to join ALLOHA collaborative and dynamic team to perform work in support of research, applying basic knowledge and understanding of scientific theory and methods. The ALLOHA Program leads projects with several external companies as well various experts internally at Stanford Medicine. The projects cover a broad range of aims all centered around the development and study of artificial intelligence technology integration to improve diagnostic capabilities, risk prediction and intervention, chart review and documentation burden, population health management and other important areas of healthcare delivery.
We search for a professional with prior applicable experience in a relevant social science field, and skills in executing mixed-methods (qualitative and quantitative) research studies, project management, and on-time, on-budget project execution. The role requires basic understanding of qualitative methods, a high degree of organization, ability to exercise initiative and judgment, excellent written and oral communication skills, strong work ethic of collaboration, and exceptional, client-focused interpersonal skills. The research staff will play an important role in conducting and analyzing mixed methods investigations of innovative health and healthcare delivery models nationally.
The ideal candidate has an undergraduate degree in a relevant field such as public health, health care management, health services research, sociology, or anthropology and has a passion for improving health and health care systems in the United States and the world through technology development, study and integration.
Plan and perform research tasks requiring initiative and judgment by applying basic knowledge and understanding of scientific theory when precedents do not provide specific guidance. General instruction provided by the supervisor as needed. May interpret study results in collaboration with supervisor or PI.
Participate in the development and administration of survey instruments and rating scales requiring judgment in applying non-routine procedures. Analyze and summarize results for review with supervisor. Audit the accuracy and validity of data.
Identify, select, extract and summarize data and structured information. Present summary of findings to supervisor.
Conduct literature searches, and write literature summaries and manuscripts, requiring preliminary judgments after the supervisor outlines conceptual approach.
Build and organize data as requested by principal investigator or supervisor; use common statistical programs requiring the application of job control language in generating and organizing data.
Adapt new, nonstandard methods outlined by supervisor in designing and evaluating phases of research projects, (i.e., educational materials, questionnaires, strategies for recruitment, data quality control procedures and processes). May follow up with Institutional Review Board (IRB) to ensure renewals are approved and completed, seeking guidance where necessary.
Assist with development, communication and design of research findings to internal and external audiences, which may include web updates, social media, and/or white papers, for use in recruitment, educational, or awareness of programs, with guidance from supervisor.
May orient and train new staff or students.

Undergraduate degree in a relevant field of social science including public health, health services research, sociology, or anthropology and 6 months to 1 year of prior applicable experience in a relevant social science field.
Strong organization and project management skills, with demonstrated experience bringing projects to completion.
Strong writing skills with ability to publish in peer-reviewed literature.
Experience with NVivo or Atlas.ti software.
Experience using statistical software such as R or STATA.
Strong client facing interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to self-manage, set priorities, and easily adapt.
Interested in technology development methods and workflow integration in healthcare settings, especially artificial intelligence.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (REQUIRED):
Bachelor of Arts degree in an applicable social science related field, or combination of education and relevant experience in an applicable social science.

General computer skills and ability to quickly learn and master computer programs.
Ability to work under deadlines with general guidance.

Frequently perform desk-based computer tasks, grasp lightly/fine manipulation, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.

Rarely twist/bend/stoop/squat, kneel/crawl, rarely reach/work above shoulders, and operates foot and/or hand controls.
