The George Mason University, Human Resources & Payroll Department is looking for a Director of Talent Acquisition. The Director of Talent Acquisition serves as a leader and expert in Talent Acquisition and will partner with university administrators, faculty and staff to oversee recruitment and retention. This person will identify and implement new recruitment strategies and initiatives, as well as enhance existing best practices and policies to align with the university’s strategic direction.

Responsible for developing and leading the strategic direction and execution of Mason's Talent Acquisition function, including executive recruitment;
Provide positive experience to clientele (includes both department and applicant experience);
Responsible for advertising, hiring policies and procedures, candidate sourcing, diversity in applicant pools, recruiting, selection and hiring;
Build relationships and advise senior leaders, hiring officials, and search committees on talent acquisition strategies helping to identify where to invest and pipeline talent;
Facilitate effective talent acquisition discussions with leaders and help them forecast their talent needs in line with business strategy;
Develop best practices for hiring managers and search committees and manage outside vendors or search firms as necessary;
Keep abreast of talent acquisition trends and best practices and share knowledge across the organization;
Demonstrate advanced knowledge of University and State administrative policies, procedures and federal guidelines surrounding hiring;
Develop metrics regarding employment recruitment;
Project management including planning and stakeholder/vendor management, and creating and overseeing other TA programs/projects;
Coordinate and lead departments/units through the search firm process;
Lead Mason Temp Program and foster a temp pool that serves the university community;
Build a strategic Talent Acquisition team, currently consisting of 2 Talent Acquisition Coordinator(s);
Work closely with the Director of the Mid-Atlantic HERC & Diversity Outreach position on strategic diversity initiatives to further enhance the university's mission and talent acquisition;
Create and deliver trainings and workshops to support skill and competency building in talent recruitment for faculty and staff.
Master's degree in HR, Business Administration or other relevant field required; or Bachelor's degree with significant recruiting and management experience equivalent to an advanced degree;
Advanced knowledge of human resources practices and principles in the areas of recruitment, employment transactions, and position classification. Experience sourcing, recruiting and interviewing professional and management candidates. Experience with ATS systems with MS Office skills;
Ability to manage recruiting budget and foster new and creative avenues to build up and diversify applicant pools. Increase awareness for potential faculty and staff through employment branding campaigns, social media efforts, and targeted outreach and job fairs;
Knowledge of basic problem solving and data collection techniques as well as EEO, State, and federal regulations, policies and procedures for hiring;
Proven ability to supervise staff, work in a team environment, to communicate effectively, to prioritize work and meet deadlines, to analyze data and reach conclusions, to advise a diverse work force in a professional manner and maintain confidentiality, and understanding of search strategies and firms; and
As part of an evolving department, candidate must be adaptable to change and have the competencies to perform their role and execute responsibilities as part of a wider HR Business Partner model.
Progressive HR experience in a university setting or large complex employer; and
People Admin experience preferred but not required.
Salary: Commensurate with education and experience.
