The Digital Communications Specialist plays an integral role in the UNC Lineberger Office of Communications and Marketing's commitment to enhancing the cancer center's local, national and international reputation by creating and managing targeted digital communications.
Key responsibilities include:
Creating and maintaining dynamic and engaging written and visual content for the cancer center's website and social media channels
Working with Communications and Development team colleagues to repurpose printed content in a manner best suited for specific social and digital media channels
Working with Digital Communications Manager to help manage the cancer center's online reputation and presence
Using analytics to design and execute integrated, online marketing and engagement campaigns
Creating and distributing recurring e-newsletters for cancer center faculty, staff and donors
Key audiences include:
Social media communities across key platforms, including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram
Current and prospective patients and their families
Donors, prospective donors and friends of the cancer center
Local, national and international news outlets
UNC Lineberger Board of Visitors
Prospective faculty and staff members
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Demonstrated proficiency and understanding of digital communications and social media practices, strategies, analysis, brand standards and all legal and regulatory requirements.
Demonstrated proficiency using content management software and digital editing software.
Demonstrated proficiency in writing concise, active and engaging digital-based copy as well as editing copy for a digital platform.
Outstanding oral and written communications skills. Demonstrated skills in generating online brand familiarity and engagement. Must be able to professionally manage multiple concurrent projects. Experience using email marketing systems and lists and the ability to learn and follow legal and regulatory requirements. Proficiency with shooting, producing and editing photos and video.
