The UCSD Rady School of Management provides business education through its Masters degree programs, PhD program, undergraduate minors and courses, and executive business seminars. This position is an integral component of the UCSD Rady School of Management's Marketing & Communication area and works as a team with the Rady Director of Marketing & Communications as well as with colleagues such as the Rady Art Director, Rady Web Designer, and Rady Marketing & Communications team. The Social Media Manager/Storyteller enhances the Rady School's digital presence and reputation among prospective graduate business students, alumni, prospective and current faculty, philanthropists, community leaders and business entrepreneurs.
The Social Media Manager develops storyboard and generates ideas for themes and articles for the quarterly and monthly Rady newsletters with a nationwide distribution. Works with Graphic Artist on newsletter graphics and photos. The Storyteller will work with Web Designer to produce final layout for two online versions, text-only online version and HTML online version and paper version. Conceptualizes, develops, and manages special projects such as video that enhance and promote the Rady School of Management brand. Creates the content calendar and manages the content development for the Rady School of Management blog; conducts interviews and creates original content when needed.
The position works with the Rady School Director of Marketing & Communications to develop, implement and manage digital marketing campaigns that promote the Rady School. The position plays a key role in enhancing brand awareness within digital space as well as driving website traffic and acquiring leads/prospective students. Manages digital advertising on social channels including Google, Facebook, YouTube and LinkedIn. Develops content and coordinates with Art Director to create branded imagery for all paid digital advertising.
The Social Media Manager/Storyteller optimizes ads for maximum ROI based on daily spend, key words, images,etc. and optimizes spend and performance. Collaborates with internal teams and/or vendor to create landing pages and customized lead forms. Manages content for auxiliary marketing channels and ensures content is up-to-date. Channels include MetroMBA, MBAStudies.com, Hot Courses, Military MBA, Poets & Quants, and others as identified. Measures and reports performance of all digital marketing campaigns, and assesses against goals (ROI, CTR, CPM). Develops and provides monthly analytics reports on ad performance. Identifies and evaluates new digital technologies and makes recommendations for testing and/or implementation.

Bachelor's degree with major in journalism, communications, or in a subject area related to the public information and at least 3 years of professional writing experience for social media, websites, advertisements, newspapers, magazines, radio/T.V.; or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
Solid professional working experience in digital marketing with experience writing and editing effective press releases, advertising copy, radio/television copy, website content. Solid experience using AP writing style guide. Solid professional experience creating, and writing content for social media pieces. Solid professional experience posting content, images, and videos on LinkedIn, YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, and blogs and other social networking platforms
Experience writing pieces that tell a story in an engaging manner, communicating a theme, or brand, personality of an individual, or profile of an organization, program or service.
Solid experience creating social media strategies to market to a sophisticated target audience. Experience researching a target audience and implementing a variety of media and new media to reach an audience, ideally for a university program.
