The College of New Jersey's Office of Communications, Marketing & Brand Management (CMBM) invites qualified applications for a Web Content Manager to maintain TCNJ's website.
CMBM is responsible for managing the College's internal and external communications, with an emphasis on building brand awareness and maintaining a clear and consistent visual identity. The office is responsible for institutional website design and content as well as the production of print and electronic publications, marketing materials, institutional advertising, the College's official social media accounts, photo/video, alumni magazine, media relations, and crisis communications.
Managing The College's website, the Web Content Manager ensures content updates are made in a timely manner and brand standards are upheld. Other essential job functions include:
Ensuring that all college websites are checked yearly for outdated content, broken links and graphics, and optimized for search engines, following the schedule outlined in the annual web review calendar.
Managing a team of student web editors and provide training and tutorials on how to use the WordPress content management system for other editors on campus outside CMBM.
Working closely with the CMBM web team to devise, implement, and communicate a web content strategy that aligns brand and marketing goals for TCNJ.
Assisting the college's senior web developers in building new sites and upgrading the design of existing sites.
Working with Digital Content Editor and Head Media Relations Officer to post/distribute timely web and multimedia content to TCNJ's homepage and news feeds.
Working with TCNJ Magazine editorial staff to publish digital version of TCNJ Magazine.
Working with Senior Web Architect to collect, monitor and analyze social and website metrics, and make improvements accordingly.
Staying up-to-date on industry trends and adjusting the content strategy, as needed.
The successful candidate will be expected to be comfortable with juggling multiple priorities, prioritizing them and completing them in a timely fashion, and able to balance the pressing task-based needs with longer-term goals; managing work with minimal supervision.
The ideal candidate possesses the knowledge of web design best practices, as well as the following qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree required in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, English, Interactive Multimedia, or Computer Science
Coursework in HTML, CSS, web design, user experience is preferred
2+ years of experience in Web Content Marketing is preferred
Strong WordPress, Adobe Photoshop, Google Analytics skills
Understanding of content marketing tactics, such as Search Engine Optimization, a plus
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
The College offers a generous benefits package that includes health, dental, vision and prescription plans, as well as pension, paid leave time and tuition savings programs. This position has the state title of Professional Services Specialist 3, and is included for membership in the American Federation of Teachers (AFT) bargaining unit. The starting salary for this position is U21, step 1 ($53,189.40). Salary for an internal candidate will be determined by promotional rules.
