Senior Program Manager, Robotics Institute-2013236
Carnegie Mellon's Robotics Institute (RI) is looking for a motivated self-starter to be a member of our dynamic team as a Senior Program Manager for Carnegie Mellon's government funded cooperative agreement "Leveraging Advanced Algorithms, Autonomy, and Artificial Intelligence (A4I) to Enhance National Security and Defense." You will be expected to coordinate various projects across many domains to assure proper sustainment and completion of all required activities, milestones, and closure dates. Duties include Project Management Office activities and process improvements, and close coordination with government sponsors. You will have direct relationships with various project managers and will support the Principal Investigator/s (PI) in his/her direct report relationship with their respective academic counterparts as well as the research they are pursuing. You will be a valuable asset that works between the ongoing efforts and upper management to ensure successful projects.

Your primary responsibilities will include:
Work with Principal Investigator and senior management to develop and implement initiatives to streamline and improve operations project life cycles and maximize research impact.
Gather reporting from Project Managers to present to senior management.
Consolidate and report on all projects within the program to senior management and external stakeholders.
Directly serve as a Project Manager on multiple medium-to-large projects through their entire project life cycle.
Serve as a liaison between RI and cooperative agreement clients in the government
Establish project plans and milestones and attend program reviews.
Execute the project plan on schedule and within budget with effective scope management, time, quality and cost constraints.
Actively manage scope, schedule, and risks.
Engage Project Managers in continuous self-improvement and process improvement activities
Manage internal contracting processes including leading meetings, documenting action items, and following up to ensure that action items are completed.
Master's degree in relevant field
At least 8+ yrs. in Program Management and Technical Project Management
At least 3 to 5 yrs. in a supervisory role as a Technical Project Manager
Experience working with a diverse team of researchers, mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, robotic engineers, and software engineers
Project Management Certification
Note: The position may require light travel to government installations (approximately 10% travel).
