As a front end developer on the University Relations Digital Communications team, you will work witih a team of writers, designers, a photographer, a videographer, a social media professional, and developers to code and manage some of the Univrsity's most highprofile sites, including the umn.edu home page, the president's website, four college sites, and many others.
Daily Tasks Include:
Determining project requirements with project managers, designers, etc.
Creating and styling Drupal 8 content types
Creating and styling views in Drupal 8
Building web pages in Drupal 8 and configuring the layout via node templates, paragraphs, or layout builder
Writing clean, semantic, accessible code that follows University Relations' standards and naming conventions
Adhering to an established (and evolving) web theme
Using the terminal to push and pull code from GitHub
Troubleshooting website errors
Monitoring an email inbox and providing technical support and guidance to the web community
Tracking project progress via project management tools (basecamp, asana)
TERMS: This is a 100%, 12-months, annually renewable position in academic professional series (classification 9790D2).
Bachelor's degree required and 2 years of related experience or a comparable combination of education, experience and/or training.
Strong front end development experience with high proficiency in HTML and CSS.
Experience developing web solutions in content management systems.
demonstrated ability to configure websites to be responsive.
Knowledge of WCAG2.o AA accessibility standards and its implementation.
Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to take on new projects and learn new skills as technology changes and grows.
Ability to work within a team environment where design and production are a collaborative effort.
Good background in user interface design and development, including familiarity with best practices used to ensure quality, usability, and accessibility of developed websites.
Experience with Git or other revision control systems such as CVS or Subversion.
Experience with CSS preprocessors such as SASS.
Experience building websites in Drupal.
