Drew University invites applications for a Visual Arts Technician in the Art Department.
This position will operate as a 4-day a week position in the fall and spring semesters, with 2 days on campus per-week in the summer (days/times negotiable).
As a visual arts technician, the candidate will execute all day-to-day and hands-on aspects of weekly studio operations for the Art department. This includes set up and maintenance of the art studios, overseeing student workers, assisting to manage digital labs, ensuring departmental safety and OSHA compliance, assisting students and professors as necessary, and installing shows in the Korn Gallery on campus. This position will also lead training and workshop sessions in the department, with the possibility of future teaching opportunities in their area of specialty, contingent on department needs and scheduling.
An MFA in Studio Art and 1-2 years of experience in the field are required. The successful candidate will have demonstrated excellence as an artist, administrative ability, and versatility to problem solve across areas of the visual arts.
The department is seeking enthusiastic and versatile applicants to help oversee our facilities. This position will interact with students regularly, leading workshops and training sessions for classes and student workers. While the department understands that candidates may not be equally familiar with all mediums that are offered in our classrooms, the successful candidate will demonstrate an ability and willingness to learn new skills and problem solve across disciplines including painting, drawing, printmaking, darkroom photography, sculpture, ceramics, and digital labs.
