Job Summary: Under direction of Assistant Vice Chancellor of Development Outreach and in collaboration with Employment Manager of Central HR, the Development Recruitment Manager (Manager) will supervise a team of two and lead the design and execution of DEVAR's talent acquisition strategy in support of department objectives. Lead and design the delivery of employment branding and establish innovative sourcing strategies to attract top talent candidates and research, develop and participate in programs and services in order to build a high-caliber candidate pool and develop a diverse pipeline of candidates. The Manager will ensure that recruiting and sourcing strategies consistently align with business objectives, and will oversee the full life-cycle recruiting process for fundraising professionals. The Manager will develop a business partner relationship with hiring managers and unit heads, providing timely and accurate communication advising management on recruiting trends and best practices.
The Manager will conduct ongoing analysis to determine how recruitment processes and protocols may be streamlined, new talent pools can be developed, and department resources can be most effectively deployed. The Manager will build and execute a technology strategy that supports an effective and efficient recruiting process, and leverages social media to attract the best talent. Analyze success against metrics and create and execute plans to achieve ongoing improvement in results that will reduce time to fill, quality of hire, cost per hire and source effectiveness.
Conduct phone interviews with candidates. Guide qualified candidates through the interview process, educating them about the specific needs of each position and area. Deploy cost effective outreach measures and tracking of candidates and all search related information/communication efforts throughout the recruitment process. Create and develop department recruitment website to showcase UC Davis as a top employer. Build a best-in-class development recruitment program.
Develop strategic approaches to UCD's participation in professional conferences such as CASE, ensuring that these opportunities are utilized to both showcase UCD's accomplishments and position UCD as an employer of choice.
Represent UCD and Development and Alumni Relations to other institutions of higher education, non-profit associations, and corporate entities. Create a centralized repository of higher education marketplace intelligence to include campaign information and the tracking of movement of mid-executive level development/external affairs officers at peer institutions to keep abreast of hiring, retention and other best practices to best position UC Davis within the higher education marketplace.
Work Environment: Must provide own transportation to off-site events & meetings.
Work occasional evenings and weekends to attend interviews/recruitment meetings and to meet operational needs.

Minimum Qualifications: 5+ years of experience as a Recruiter, with experience conducting senior-level searches, preferably in the fund-raising/development area.
Experience in management, supervisory and team leadership including motivating, training and assigning/prioritizing workload among professional staff members. Supervisory experience and skills to recruit, train, evaluate, coach, mentor and motivate staff.
Demonstrated experience with targeted and specialized recruiting, interviewing and hiring procedures in a multi-operational, multi-disciplinary environment, preferably in higher education, governed by layers of policies, procedures, regulations and approval requirements.
Ability to interact with all levels of personnel and leadership. Ability to relate to highly confidential personnel matters, use discretion in communication with colleagues and constituents, process multiple points of view and maintain strict confidentiality.
Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrated success recruiting senior-level development and external affairs officers, within a higher education setting and within a highly competitive marketplace.
Strong analytical, detail oriented and project management skills. In-depth knowledge and understanding of the issues driving and shaping the immediate development landscape and the more broad external affairs environment.
Resourceful with a strong ability to problem-solve on daily issues that arise as well as long-term issues that require time and strategy. Ability to implement solutions to ensure effective change, anticipate challenge and take necessary actions to eliminate or mitigate potential negative effects. Focused on results, moving forth with attention to detail as well as a strong understanding of the big picture.0
The ability to consistently work in an autonomous but collaborative fashion with minimum supervision is preferred.
Excellent time management skills and the ability to manage a demanding workload, balance multiple tasks and switch gears while maintaining priorities.
Ability to understand organizational dynamics, analyze business information and organize multiple points to convey large amounts of information across a broad array of internal/external constituents.
