The UC Santa Cruz Entrepreneur in Residence (EIR) works under the supervision of the Director of the Center for Innovation & Entrepreneurial Development (CIED), to provide entrepreneurial experience and programmatic support for the Blackstone LaunchPad program. CIED promotes the development, research, and teaching of innovation and entrepreneurship at UC Santa Cruz and its global partners. The Blackstone LaunchPad is a grant-funded entrepreneurship program designed to support and mentor student entrepreneurs - regardless of major, experience or discipline.
The position supports the Blackstone LaunchPad at UC Santa Cruz, part of a larger landscape of innovation and entrepreneurship programs; the long-term goal of these programs is two-fold: 1) to become the leading center for entrepreneurial training in Northern/Central California focused on inclusion of diverse students, and 2) to become a global leader in entrepreneurship at the interface between creative, social, and environmental innovation.
The EIR will be action-oriented with the ability to execute (from idea to implementation) with and without direction from the Director. The EIR will take on specific projects as the program's agenda evolves.
The Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurial Development (CIED) at the University of California, Santa Cruz, promotes the development, research and teaching of innovation and entrepreneurship. CIED is hosted by the Division of Graduate Studies and serves both graduate and undergraduate students and faculty with support from the Division of Undergraduate Education, the Office of Research, and five academic divisions.
This position requires passing a pre-employment criminal history background check. Selected candidates cannot begin work until passing their background check. Please note: Time required to complete this process may vary and can be lengthy.
This position can be filled at a predetermined and fixed percentage of time that will be between 25% - 50% time depending on candidate's availability. Schedule can and will be determined prior to hire.
Academic background and experience in selected area of research preferred.
Experience with project management.
Demonstrated success working with university students. Ability to build rapport quickly with students.
Demonstrated skill and ability in managing programs and projects.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
