The primary role for the technical and scientific writer will be to write research grant, manuscripts, grants reports, process scientific data, develop scientific illustrations. Communicate with sponsors and potential sponsors. Contribute to scientific method development and trouble shooting in the laboratory. Provide oversight to junior research staff at the Indiana Center for Regenerative Medicine and Engineering (ICRME) research enterprise.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Scans published request for application, works with faculty to develop grant proposals, works with key stakeholders to determine needs, reviews agency proposal requirements, and ensures adherence to deadlines. With direction from ICRME faculty, writes IRB research/grant proposals and applications for submission to funding and regulatory agencies, writes manuscripts, abstracts and protocols. Liaises with sponsors towards successful research funding. Contributes to overall project management and cross functional working groups to facilitate development and finalization of assigned documents; ensure quality and consistency among formatting and style. Amend proposals as needed/required. Maintain version control for all documents.
Develops new laboratory based methodology and troubleshooting plans for techniques such as super-resolution microscopy and other techniques as required by ICRME.
Audits laboratory data, supports laboratory management, supports laboratory record keeping, supports event management, travels to conferences and sponsors as required, helps with development of presentations, other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED: Bachelor Degree in sciences, plus 2 years of laboratory experience. Experience in scientific manuscript writing. Combinations of related education and experience may be considered.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities: Ability to work collaboratively with faculty in various disciplines and at various collaborating institutions. Ability to codify ideas into persuasively written text.
Master Degree in sciences. Applicants with scientific publication record. Exposure to biological as well as physical sciences.
