The College: The Golisano College of Computing and Information Sciences is home to the departments of Information Sciences and Technologies, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computing Security, and the School of Interactive Games and Media. The college's Ph.D. program in Computer and Information Sciences was ranked 68th in the U.S. News and World Reports 2018 ranking of Best Doctoral Computer Science Programs. The college has 140 faculty and more than 3100 undergraduate and 850 graduate students; the Golisano College building opened in 2003 and includes a usability testing laboratory, physical prototyping laboratory, and other research facilities.
The Department: The Department of Software Engineering offers the Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in software engineering with current total enrollment of roughly 600 students. The department is launching a new Master of Science degree in Data Science starting in the August, 2019. The undergraduate program has been accredited by ABET since 2001.
Detailed Job Description
The successful candidate will be able to teach a range of courses covering basic and advanced topics in software engineering. This may include introduction to software engineering; design patterns; secure software; real-time and embedded system software; process and project management; and mathematical models of software. The department has recently launched a new Master's degree in Data Science. Depending upon the candidate's background and intestate, there will an opportunity to teach introductory graduate level courses in applied data science. We are seeking an individual who has the ability and interest in contributing to RIT's core values, honor code, and diversity commitment
Required Minimum Qualifications
Completion of M.S. in software engineering, or a related computing discipline
Academic specialization or industrial experience in software engineering
Ability to contribute to curriculum and course development in software engineering
Background and/or interest in teaching introductory courses in applied data science
Strong commitment to software engineering education
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Ability to contribute in meaningful ways to the colleges continuing commitment to cultural diversity, pluralism, and individual differences.
