Michigan Creative, a unit of the Office of the Vice President for Communications, is seeking a technical problem-solver for a full-time role as a Senior Software Engineer.

As a senior software developer, your code should be structured, commented, and modern. Internally, you will have the opportunity to lead and promote your process and techniques. Solve complex technical issues using a variety of technologies
Build an array of tools to better serve the University community and beyond
Improve the development and QA workflow (Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment)
Provide expertise and assist in the mentorship of the team
Work with the account team to plan, scope, and report on project status
Meet with internal and external stakeholders to discuss and define digital objectives, develop applications to meet those objectives, and support overall digital strategy
8+ years of development experience in an agency, development shop, or studio
Expert knowledge of PHP
Real-world Drupal and WordPress extension and theme layer expertise
Production experience with static-site generators, such as Hugo, Gatsby, or similar
Experience using Git version control
Experience working in an Agile development environment
Strong team player and an excellent communicator
Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills
Self-driven, actively look for ways to contribute
Passionate about your work and the industry
Alexa Skills and/or Google Actions
Experience developing with another language, like Python or Go
API/GraphQL design and development
Interest in emerging technologies (Augmented/Virtual Reality, machine learning, etc)
